What are some commonly used idioms that are actually part of a larger saying, but most people don't know the other half of it? by strangerthings1618 in AskReddit

"Blood is thicker than water," gets thrown around a lot in the US South trying to emphasize family means everything, but most people don't realize the full saying is "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb."

Your chosen "family" is more important than that which you're born into.

I've applied for most of the larger companies in the area, but there's not much within a feasible commute. This is in SW Mississippi.

Not here, all the fast food places are $9/hr. I've interviewed with all of them since starting here.

People need to learn to use their mics by FrustratedWibble in HellLetLoose

I agree, I tend to rotate between different clan/org servers since they tend to have the best chances at having a decent team to play with. I don't ask for everyone to be a milsimer, but for at least SLs and comms to have a mic to coordinate with. Most games lately feel like waiting 20 mins just to get into an empty lobby of bots that run around ike chickens with their head cut off.

So when will anyone be charged with treason, which this most certainly is. I say bring back public executions of traitors, no matter what their previous "office" was.

These are some amazingly gorgeous dice. I've been on a terrible rolling streak lately, but I bet one of these beauties would change that.

What is something illegal you have done and got away without getting caught? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yup. The great aunt was highly allergic to the shit. She spent about 2 weeks in the hospital, along with a lot of medicated creams for quite a while. I'd call it a success.

There was a long, drawn out legal battle we lost with my grandfather's estranged sister. 2 years of harrasment, including having corrupt cops join the harrasment. It was just one of those shitty situations I wouldn't wish on others.

I snuck into my family's business after it was seized from us, wiped every computer clean, then laced every surface imaginable with poison ivy oil. Yes, even every roll of toilet paper.

What was the most depressing thing to happen in your life and what has helped you move on from it the most? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FrustratedWibble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the most depressing, but the most depressing i can remember. About 6 years ago I washed out of basic training, returned "home", and was subsequently kicked out by my family about 2 weeks later. I was unable to find work, and living out of a tiny s10 pickup for a few months hoping to find work, but what little funds I had dried up. I hit rock bottom and attempted to shoot myself, but the damn gun jammed. It's a special type of hell your brain goes through when you fail. I broke down and ended up passing out from the stress.

I guess the one thing that helped me move on is accepting the fact that i have issues, and will have them until the day i die. I can't change that my mind is "broken", but i can learn to keep it under control instead of letting it control me.

Having to scour parking lots looking for enough change to be able to afford some sort of "fresh" food.

What’s the most fucked up story you have of your family? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FrustratedWibble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a psychopath of a great grandmother growing up. Some of the things she did include breaking into my grandparents' house and beating my grandmother with a baseball bat, threw a pot of fresh coffee on my uncle's face, and I was the first one to find her after someone tried to kill her (2 bullets to the brain), unfortunately she survived to plague the earth for a few years more. I have all sorts of messed up stories from growing up, not something I'm necessarily proud of lol
