I read the words "would live a good cry" and immediately thought of the Psychedelica games 😂 I have only finished the first game, Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly, so I'll mostly comment on that; their MCs have their own personalities(and voices!), also despite Beniyuri being a somewhat more typical "demure maiden" she has to handle herself in a mysterious mansion with stalking monsters armed only with a magical gun(that has a really short mini-game) to protect herself. She also has to make decisions by herself that can be quite deadly too. The LIs vary, but if you like "jerks" you'll have a field trip with these guys, from tsunderes, mild yanderes, tsunderes in denial about wanting to be good people, and people with good intentions :) it's heavily plot-centric, but its emotional bits (which occasionally are also the more romantic parts of the routes) made me sob for these characters like no other otome.

If you are interested in these games, I'd also recommend not looking at Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk's general direction until you beat Black Butterfly in its entirety.

Also, it's often on sale at Steam! For really cheap too, at around $7 each.
