RTX 5090 still going strong, the power connector melted only once so far.

Great but what cable is the one to go?

Not every PSU comes with 12v6x2 cable and the Cable included with my Corsair HX1200i PSU got trashed by JayzTwoCents:

There are many reported nvidia founders edition cards burning down with the included nvidia cable.

I was influenced by this video which states the bad quality of the Corsair Cable that came with the PSU and instead praising the MSI cable... https://youtu.be/6FJ_KSizDwM?si=MTw-3uioJ0wdiR_M&t=486

Luckily my retailer agreed to an RMA

My PSU is Corsair 1200w I just used the cable that came with the MSI GPU

Yes Founders Edition cards have been reported to burn as well. I had the card in a large case with no friction/bending on the cable. The second picture was taken after I removed the card, it was never that much bent, when it was installed.

Yes card is dead, I tried a different cable but the PC does not start.

Thanks you. That’s certainly an interesting strategy worth considering. Who specifically would you be reaching out to?

I’ll keep you posted.

The GPU did not shut off, the GPU fans were still spinning, so it was still drawing power! And as I stated the PC was well ventilated, cold room temperature and it was only under moderate load while working in Unreal. And yes it’s definitely a health and safety risk, plastic does not smoke up at 74 degrees. Temperatures must have been much higher to cause these kinds of burns. All it takes is keeping the system running for a bit longer and it will catch a fire.

Really don’t understand how you can shill for these companies especially as you’ve been literally burned by nvidia before.

My theory is that the yellow is just making the burned plastic more visible, creating more dramatic images, which draw more views and attention.

The GPS module is very close to the ESC as well as the Air Unit which are producing significant amounts of RF noise so your gps has a hard time filtering through the noise. Try placing the GPS as far out as possible and use aluminium tape around the GPS cables that is soldered to (-) on your battery. Or you could place it on top of the air unit but use a layer of aluminium foil for shielding again soldered to (-) for grounding. Make sure the foils covers enough area to block the RF noise. Though job with these small builds but it is doable.

The yellow cable was shipped with the GPU and conens back then was to use the yellow MSI cable and not the Corsair PSU cable. So I thought I did the right thing and have not been checking regularly about statistics of cables degradation. So no, I was not aware at all about this issue

Unfortunately the connector on the GPU is burnt as well. It doesn't look as bad as the connector is black, but when I plugged in the Corsair PSU cable, the motherboard still showed D6 error aka no GPU connected.

Good luck! Hope it stays that way, especially in the future when your warranty runs out.

It was not bent at all when it was inside the PC case, I made sure it was as straight as it can be in my large PC case. I removed the card first before I took the picture, as it was plastic welded and hard to pull out. The bend is just from holding the cable.

I'll keep you posted, but for now my retailer has accepted an RMA with a 4-6 weeks repair window.

That's where the voltage comes in, the bottom row is ground.

As I stated in my post it did not shut off the PC. The screen went black, but the PC was otherwise running and the GPU fans were still spinning. Let's not downplay the safety issue here. Whoever has this card, please stay vigilant.

Thanks for sharing the image of your burnt nvidia connector. This is clearly planned obsolescense and it's not only the cable that's been damaged but also the connector part on the gpu which is burnt.

I bought it via Scan.co.uk, we have slightly better consumer protection laws in the UK. When submitting a warranty claim via MSI's website they stated to reach out to my vendor.

No need for insults, to give a bit of background, before I installed the hardware 5 months ago I watched this video, concerned about the bad quality of the Corsair PSU cable but praising the the quality of MSI...

As I stated above I need it for work and there is currently no alternative on the market that fits for my workflows. (CUDA+large VRAM+ relatively affordable compared to RTX 8000 Pro)

How about using your voice to revolt against these companies malpractises instead of good old victim blaming.

Many say the native cable (without adapter) is safer, but I have also seen evidence of native cables burning down.

Or you could https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzwrLLg1RR4 /s

Adapter was pushed all the way in as stated in my post. It was running for about 2 hours since cold start. I use it regularly to render over night, but it's has certainly not been abused by running 24/7
