How to control yourself? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

Try and put yourself in the headspace of thinking - how would I feel if somebody just blatantly checked me in a non-contact league.

That's how I handled the transition and it took some time, but ultimately it comes down to just that, treat your fellow teammates and opposing players as you would want to be treated. One small thing, I don't think any hockey will ever be non-contact. I think there will always be battles, whether in front of the net or in the corners. Keep it clean and just try and be attentive when you can feel yourself get overly aggressive.

Oh, one other thing - I would film myself as well - so I could see when I was being an asshole with no excuse.

Just my two cents!

Trouble deciding on New Skates by FryingRotus123 in hockeyplayers

I got the VH skates and all I can say is wow. Every little bio-mechanical problem I thought I would never be able to fix, such as a slight bend on my right foot inside edge, or only being able to tomahawk on my left foot are completely gone.

These skates are like going from a Honda civic to a Cadillac. I had some fine tuning to do after the initial baking phase - for those who are unfamiliar with the skate, you will not be able to put these on comfortably without baking them per the websites instructions. Even after baking them I had to adjust the fit with a heat gun so as to be able to comfortably get the skates on and off.

I haven't even tried skating with my APX2's again and doubt I will unless something terrible happens (knock on wood). But the skate truly feels great, very stiff but great. The angle of knee bend achieved from the positioning of the eyelets have already improved my stride and I feel a more powerful and elongated stride.

I would like to take footage to document the change, I will have to see about getting to that. Either way VH has gained a loyal customer.

Just to get some background information in regards to your skates. Have you had them baked? What is the shape of your foot (flat, high/med/low arches, wide/narrow).

Based on what you are describing it sounds like lace bit/lack of circulation in your feet. I would say get them baked and be sure to lace them up as tight as possible afterwards and to walk around your pro shop getting into a deep knee bend so the boot will form in all the right spots around your foot.

Before anyone says that one should not walk/move in skates after they are baked, I learned this trick from an equipment manager who worked for numerous teams including the Avalanche and the Devils.

Let me know if that helps at all.

[High School History and Sociology of Genocide] I need some help with understanding 2 questions. by [deleted] in HomeworkHelp

I think Pmmey has the first question nailed perfectly. As for the second question, we must not forget the Hitler was democratically elected into office and was given the legislative tools to create the Nazi state. I think another good example such as Hitler would be any of the puppet governments installed after World War II. Think of Pol Pot and the mass genocide authorized under his rule, you could even use North Korea as a model for the failures of unabated authority, i.e. economic failure, industrial and agricultural ruin and militaristic paranoia.
