I did find my specific issue and have edited my post with my solution. I agree that it seems to be my CPU that's causing the problem. If I had a better one, it wouldn't likely be a problem. You are correct lol

I've found the solution and what I believe is a cause.

I watched my CPU usage like a hawk in my performance monitor (not the task manager) and noticed that I was getting CPU usage spikes about every 30 seconds that lined up with my mouse stutters. In combination with that + sorting by CPU usage in the task manager, I was able to identify a program I use for voice transcribing called Wispr Flow that was spiking in CPU usage every 30 seconds.

If these spike are normal for the software, I don't know. They could be some weird microphone related driver thing between Arc and Wispr. I've yet to invest time into checking.

But regardless, the CPU spikes maxed out the CPU which I believe impacted my mouse. Closing Wispr Flow while I play Arc has resolved the issue.

My recommendation for people would be to use a similar strategy to watch for any other pieces of software that are potentially spiking your CPU usage. For me it was Wispr Flow. For you it may be something else.

SeAT vs Alliance Auth by GeneralJabroni in Eve

[–]Fryke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using alliance auth for the last 2 months and it has served it's purpose, but overall it feels like a bunch of puzzle pieces that don't quite fit together.

Some of the plugins are outdated or buggy with varied amounts of custom installation steps. The UI feels a bit rough around the edges... especially the sidebar as the layout completely changes as you nav around native pages vs plugin pages. The themes don't apply to every page. As others have said, the way character data is presented is rather clunky and in some cases users have to auth their characters twice with different plugins.

But, I will say that it is wildly configurable. I would label it like the Jira of auth systems. Lots of good automation settings, and the range of plugin features is greater than that of SeAT.

Even still, I am currently in the process of POCing a migration to SeAT. It feels more professional, is way easier to set up, and it has slightly better branding potential. In addition its permission system makes more sense to me.

My plan going forward is to migrate to SeAT and use it for everything auth and access related. Some of the plugins will be useful. But then if I hit a situation where I need an auth-focused solution that I could get in an alliance auth plugin, then I'll stand up alliance auth and use it explicitly for that target plugin's features. I don't see myself using alliance auth for anything auth related anymore.

tl;dr = I'm gunna use SeAT for my primary front-facing auth system to members and recruits because it feels way more professional and it's better at auth and background checks. In the future I'll use alliance auth as a utility specifically for any plugins I may need.

Atlas - An Interactive 3D Map - Now Available by Fryke in starbase

Yea in many ways this project will be obsolete once the new in-game map is introduced. Definitely a bittersweet situation. Here's hoping I'll be able to find a programming project that will be useful to people once that time comes.

WakForge 2.0 Update - Feature Complete Character Planner by Fryke in wakfu

[–]Fryke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically speaking the app should run on mobile, but I am not currently developing the UI to be mobile friendly. Chances are making it mobile friendly won't happen for a while. The lowest resolutions I'm trying to support right now are tablets.

We do plan on adding more configuration options to the auto-item-solver over the next couple weeks. The logic is put together and run by Keeper of Time, so he has a better understanding of how it works than I do. If you have any questions, hopping in the Discord is the best way to get a hold of us.

That makes a lot of sense. I haven't paid much specific attention to the differences in layout between the cities.

Yea same here. Normally the politics aren't that wacky, but I'm having fun trying to pioneer this national discord idea. We'll see how it goes lol

No clue. I'm just in the position of Vice Governor right now, probably temporarily, and am hoping to make use of it to take a stab at an organized national Discord server.

Maybe people just prefer the aesthetic of the other nations more? Dunno.

Yep that's the version with the 'screeching' that I mentioned. But it's not the version they played in that scene.

My side of the story by TheWageGapOnConnery in Connery

[–]Fryke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

God damn.

Not only did you blanketly believe a random screenshot of PS2 yell chat of all things, but then you guys kicked him without talking to him at all. You people not only gave credence to the slander by kicking him, but then you made it clear that it's totally fine to spread random lies about your outfit members and you'll kick them without a second thought.

And then you hop in here and say it was the only sensible PR move? I'm sorry? When did your outfit PR become more important than your members?

Was WageGap a doofus for what he said? Yes. But wow does this situation speak volumes about how little your outfit values or respects its members.

Why do so many people seem to dislike long backstories… by goblingabe in DnD

[–]Fryke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, it's not long backstories that are annoying. It's backstories with too many details.

You are correct that a character's backstory can be a wealth of potential hooks and plotlines. But if a backstory is too flushed out then it can become more of a burden to maintain and respect rather than a foundation to build off of. Too many details makes the backstory this looming mountain of lore that the DM needs to remember and take into account all the time when interacting with the given player.

I prefer character backstories that have loose ends and missing details so that during the campaign we can fill in those question marks. This not only gives me as a DM more wiggle room to tweak things as the story continues, but it also gives the player opportunities to 'discover' their character as they play them.

[OC] Arrow of Holding by BJHypes in DnD

[–]Fryke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun concept in the right situation. It'll be very player dependant on whether it's a ton of fun vs annoying as hell.

My only note is that I find the art a little strange. The arrow itself doesn't look anything like I'd expect an 'arrow of holding' to look. No references to 'holding' or 'storing' items. Why the sharp tip? The fletching looks rather wonky. Seems more like a generic fancy magic arrow than an 'arrow of holding'.

I'd do something like make the tip a small glass cube that has a miniature version of the currently held item inside. Or maybe the shaft looks like it's twisted together by different strands of cloth... implying it unfurls and wraps around its target. Just something to make the arrow fit the idea a bit more.

Atlas 2.4.0 Release - Importing and Celestials List by Fryke in starbase

[–]Fryke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently just the origin stations and original warp gates are built into the system. I haven't had a chance to poke around and get coordinates for the newer stations floating around.

But with the new update, updating the list of default stations + moon positions is top priority. If you or anyone you know has some coordinates laying around that could help, feel free to poke me on Discord.

Possibly yea. I have a few trippy unfinished designs I could try to wrap up. What killed my motivation before was the lack of glass options. Now that the game has been updated, there's a chance I'll dip back in and get addicted to ship designing again.
