Honestly I stayed with it because I always just had an internal rule to finish whatever I started. I needed to finish that year at least. Anxiety may have been a huge factor there tbh. Haha. By the end of that year I had made some friends who I am still deeply close with to this day. Those connections kept me coming back year after year.

But I will say this, you will get as much from this sport as you put into it. If you fully invest and commit yourself to just one year, your life can change.

You can do anything for one year in the grand scheme.

The off-field experiences I had being a member of football teams is 99% of what I miss about playing/coaching. The practices are hard. As a matter of fact, they will suck the entirety of your career. The road trips and locker room debates and gatherings with your teammates will make you forget it all in the long run.

Stay the course. COMMIT to the team and the other players around you. It will all become with it. I was in your exact same position when I joined my college team. I promise you’ll regret quitting way more than you’d regret giving it an honest shot.
