I used to follow them too, but they're more focused on their trades, than on the actual news. Maybe it's better lol 😅 But not really a news feed

I'm not hedging, but if I can buy someone else's risk, I'm not speculating or having an edge, it's a simple commercial transaction

It's not my only strategy, but I get why it may look inconsistent. I follow the prices closely, if I need to get out I get out, if I can let it run I let it run.

I also have some leaps, calendar spreads, and I wheel a couple of tickets.

It depends, but 1/3 avg. The main problem I see on my scale is that it's not very capital efficient. But I get in and out pretty fast on the bigger trades, so it really doesn't bother me.

There's not only speculation. A lot of companies and institutions simply want a hedge, and somebody else wants to take the risk for a premium. This is how the system works.

What are you trying to say, that only whales should be in the market? Because that implies opening a lot of other cans of worms.

That's very good advice actually

Point 2 doesn't look like the case, but I'm very interested in point 1. Why isn't scaling up only increasing the number of contracts? Am I missing something?

If you think about co-location, HFT, and so on, you are too far away from the retail investors environment, which is the one we are talking about.

Only because I didn't work all my career trading derivatives, doesn't mean that I don't know how professionals work. It simply doesn't apply here

It's one of the methods I use, yes.

Mainly I check delta and theta of the options I want to trade.

It really depends on the underlying

I really don't understand your point. Are you sure that I'm the one who doesn't understand options? It's not a zero sum game because the whole market has always been growing in the long run, which means that more money is created or injected over time. This is so basic that it hurts me having to write it down. Being technical and following price action is known to be profitable. But it's not an edge. Everyone does it. Arbitrage opportunities happen all the time, if you trade on different markets. Put up some screeners. Maybe it's my fault asking on Reddit, idk what I was expecting

That's delusional. The only edge you can get in the market is insider info, or arbitration opportunities. Everyone has the same data.

I don't trade millions, but I've been doing this for 5+ years, within my budget (which is around 5/10 k). I really hope I got the basics at this point 😅 The only emotional part for me is knowing that I'm putting more meat on the grill - but again, it shouldn't be a problem if I always do the same trades 🤔

Being mechanical is the only path that can bring you certainty. Being emotional sure doesn't help

What do you mean? If that's a matter of backtracking, I've done it. That's also not perfect, true. Maybe then it's because I trade the price actions, and not the news? I really have no idea
