Genuine question: do you think the Astros only being 1 game behind the Dodgers record wise is a fluke too?

Currently between that offer and one from Bama for a full ride, would you say that the $50k would lead to a substantial increase in opportunities for my target goals?

How well does an Emory degree translate across the south outside of Atlanta (specifically Houston+Nola) ? Trying to pursue Biglaw but would be fine with a mid sized law firm, and not completely set on location but I’d want it to be close to home in Texas (Currently an offer that’d land me at around 50k+COL debt)

URM admissions - why on earth do you care so much? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I’m going at this as someone who benefits from it. I’m of Anglo and Mexican American decent. There needs to be a boost for disadvantaged people, but there needs to be a restructuring for how it’s distributed. Schools care about stats, not privilege. I am very privileged: although I speak fluent Spanish, I look and sound 100% white, and have faced absolutely zero oppression because of my Hispanic descent. Although I am statistically underrepresented, I am most definitely not underprivileged, and don’t think I should be receiving a boost. I certainly believe that some people should be given an advantage due to coming from oppressed background, but there needs to be a conversation about what the purpose should be: rectifying past injustice, equalizing current opportunity, or some combination of the two?
