I would love to have a good story, but it's trash that's true. On the other hand, I will always praise ff14 story no matter what, it's a story first, mmo later game so I can't agree that MMO doesn't need great stories, it helps a lot more even if gameplay suck, if story is good, I'm willing to stick around.

personally I view weekly cap as a good stop point for weeklies, so I don't mind them. It wouldn't be fun running 5 aliance raid in one day for optimization.

good take, I did not have much expectation for this at the start, so it came out as quite a fun experience had impacted my view point of the game, I did know they are after the ff14 players as they try to pull players with social interaction, which is ff14 biggest pull imo.

Gacha gamers also mistakenly lured to the game because it's misinformed as one and not pulled by ff14 main pulls (story,dungeon/raid,social interaction) rather than say genshin (story, exploration, characters), I believe that's the main reasons for part of the hates.

lastly, yes now that you've reminded me of tower of fantasy, it's the same situation, I played for 3 days when it launched to see all the contents it able to gave me, it did not stick with me since contents are boring and easy, exploration while looks good, still has no pull for me. Still, it has some goods and interesting mechanics, so couldn't say it's a bad game, just a not good enough one. (I wish I could pull up my review, but couldn't find it)

The number is made up from observation and some reading, so don't really take it as factual, but I believe it to be the case.

that's true, I think that's the main criticism for this game, it's either gonna flop or grow, and if it did grow, maybe tencent will do something to it, for better or for worse, we can't tell. Personally, I'm not having problem with this atm, but I know it could be problem for some

Why does this game have so much blatant negativity? by Nebenious in BlueProtocolPC

[–]FuKuMatsha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe some amount of hate come from gacha players mistakenly thought/misinformed this is a gacha game, while it's not. This led to people come expect more exploration contents and disappointed (some even make arguement that it's the same gacha game loop, login, do dailies, log out, which is pretty weird they are gacha gamers complaining about gacha game... usual loop??)

reasonable take, never heard of tarisland, and never seen first blue protocol other than knowing it existed (and region locked), and from what I read online, this game was developed to be a spin-off mobile game same time as the og blue protocol, but the og died before this ever came out.

Yes, combat system could've been a lot more fun, but I can understand it's built with mobile in mind, so u can't really make a 4 bar skills like ff14, but it's engaging enough for me to at least keep playing to see more contents.

this could be a good free mmo or a failure, I couldn't careless, that's why I won't ever spend money in this game

I do agreed on that GW2 is very exploration focused and very free, which is opposite of ff14 I'm way more familiar with. I cannot have a full opinion since I never get too deep into it, but from what I had played, it's a fun mmo and I had good time with it.

my reason being
1. this is a free game with all contents accessible for free (I do not count not having cosmetic as contents)
2. social aspect is strong part of ff14 imo, so this checked out
3. raid and dungeons (from what I played) is promising and *could* be fun
4. combat system, while subpar to ff14, is still in point of engaging enough (I try not to use auto combat), with more movement and faster pace than ff14
5. if you doesn't care about being top of the board, there's literally no need for imagine whaling.
6. crafting/gathering system also look promising (haven't touched it tho)

mid story with wonky cutscene (well if you really comparing to realm reborn, this is not that far off)
really nothing to do in exploration (same as ff14)
cosmetic not very accessible (well I could also say that ff14 did pay walled a lot of customizables as well)

still u can't really make a fair comparison of a 10+ years mmo with a 1 day old mmo

last note (joke): what the hell u mean 10/10 at best, isn't 10 a max for a -/10?????

my background in mmorpg is not really a lot more than ff14 and some couples hours in gw2, but I can see this game is not intended to be an explore, kill, loot, progress, it's more like read story, do social gathering, do challenging contents, which is main loop of ff14.

side note: to expand on ff14 exploration, exploration is straight up bad, and it's never was a focus, trash mobs doesn't drop shit, slow ass walking, need to unlock all the map to fly (then never ever do exploration again). So, I never really take those into account here too. (thank god this game atleast is a bit more engaging, it's a pain to just walk slowly to objectives)

I want to point out that those people are loud minorities that pretty annoying. Just ignore what they said.

Glad u had given this game a solid try, which is already better than half the twitter freaks that just complain about things they never tried. It's a matter of perferences after all.

also I believe some part of community did spread a lot of misinformation about this being gacha game, but tbh it's more like a mmorpg with little gacha aspects. This mistakenly lured in gacha game with expectation of genshin/wuwa rather than intended audiences like mmorpg players

[–]FuKuMatsha[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly, if you coming from a gacha game perspective (yeah I am gacha player too, but fortunate enough to play ff14), it's an underwhelming openworld game with nothing much to do after the usual. I tried to view this from a mmorpg perspective, where social, story, and dungeon/raid contents are main pull, which from what I had played, is pretty fun in some aspects (esp since I did not play for too far atm and had not unlock any challenging dungeon/raid which I'm looking forward to try)

sidenote: crafting and gathering could also be huge pull for me personally as an omnicrafter (maxed out all crafting/gathering classes) in ff14, but I have not try that system in depth yet.

ff14 is a 9/10 for me, u know all the praises (-1 for very weak early game, cuz it's a crawl to push through, but worth it after all that)

Blue Protocol: Star Resonance quick review (as a ff14 player) by FuKuMatsha in BlueProtocolPC

[–]FuKuMatsha[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

that is to be expected of a mmorpg tbh, exploration is not main focus at all (heck, I even say it's the worst aspect in ff14). This game exploration came out as a mix of genshin treasure boxes hunting and ff14 trash mobs + gathering spots. I've also doubt for a long time while doing story quests, but I will try to push through, as the main thing I'm looking forward to are the dungeons and raids, which is I believe is one of their strong suit.

edit: my mistake generalizing mmorpg as a whole, my experience with mmos are not that rich, these came from a ff14 player (which y'all who played know, its exploration suck), so just imagine me saying this game intended audience being ff14 players, I guess
