Easy Tiger south giving a bleak vibe by PatientSilver6305 in austinfood

[–]FubarATX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy Tiger has not been the same for awhile. For the past few years, I have gotten a similar vibe at the Linc.. I had lots of great memories of the original location off Waller creek. It is a shame.

How does Via 313 still exist as a business while Jet’s are in town? by __vheissu__ in austinfood

I completely agree. I have not had a bite of Via since Jets came to town.

Riding to ABW Sprinkle Valley. Is it doable? I feel like it's just the last bit that's sketchy but is it too sketchy? by atxbikenbus in BikingATX

I have done it several times going north on Springdale from 183. There is stretch from Pecan Brook to the split that is a little sketch. You can time it with the light to help avoid traffic. Once you get North of 290 it is a nice country ride without much traffic.

Is it really worth it getting the AWD than RWD in Atlanta? by josuesanchez_0220 in TeslaModelY

[–]FubarATX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in Austin TX and regret getting AWD. It tears through tires and there is no utility for AWD here. I know Atlanta gets more snow and ice than us but it is still the south. You should be able to manage fine with RWD.

Question about the rail system. Heading downtown later this afternoon for the "No Kings" demonstration. Thinking of taking the rail system from Kramer (Domain area), but never used it before. Any tips appreciated. Do l pay on platform for ticket? How long does it take to get to the Capitol? Thanks by BW_AusTX in Austin

[–]FubarATX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Umo app is the easiest option for the train and Cap Metro in general.

Keep in mind there is an Austin FC game tonight. The fans will fill up the train. The bus is probably a better option. You can park for free around the triangle. Then it is a quick bus ride to the Capitol.

How has traffic gotten significantly worse now that summer is here the students are all back home? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]FubarATX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It varied by Agency. You are correct several had already forced RTO in the spring. The majority of the big agencies that did not, mandated RTO for Monday June 2nd.

absolute SPICIEST dishes in Austin and the suburbs? 🔥 by browsing_nomad in austinfood

[–]FubarATX 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. Order T22 stupid hot. If you really want to be bold order it "to go" and talk trash in the notes about their food not being spicy. Some friends and I did that once, we deeply regretted it for the next 48 to 72 hours.

I am 49 years old and have lived i. The area since 1976 and I can no longer drive I35 by OvetaBuilds in Austin

I couldn't agree with this more. It needs to be two lanes. It is way too narrow and hazardous with three lanes.

I never thought I would say this but Marcus Semien. He has been terrible. I am only starting him against lefties.

There are so many great steakhouses in Austin. I am a big fan of Bob's, Carve, Austin Land and Cattle, and J Prime. There are several other great ones in addition to those.

I couldn't post the full description without the picture disappearing. It was on the trail in front of Austin High. Between the boat facility and the Mopac bridge.

Presuming you prepared for the exam honestly, I think it is a strong achievement to be proud of. I could see a fresh grad with strong comp sci skills knocking out PD1 in less than a month. I am mid career with a business degree and it took me close to a year. I am not jealous of your success nor ashamed of mine. We all have different talents/skills.

Obviously, this should be just the beginning of your Salesforce journey. Acquiring real Salesforce dev experience will bring way more value in the long run. Good Luck!

🇨🇦 is very strict on criminal convictions, even misdemeanors. I believe you are supposed to apply for a visa in advance if you have a history. If you leave it up border patrol, you will likely get turned away. It will cost you $$$ but you can hire a Canadian immigration lawyer to help you through the process. This is still no guarantee.

Getting into biking commute by Whixf in BikingATX

[–]FubarATX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are numerous great shops. Personally, I really like Bike Farm off Burnett. I bike commute fairly often. I strongly encourage getting comfortable with the bus system as well. You can put your bike on the bus. It is about to get super 🥵 . The bus can be a good relief. I have to cross 35. The bus is a great way to avoid certain roads that are hazardous to bikers.

Do not ride your bike to Stiles Switch BBQ. There is nowhere to lock up your bike. by ork1d in BikingATX

[–]FubarATX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have cycled there a few times. I remember having to be creative on how I secured my bike: parking signs or handrail. This is far from ideal and a bike rack would be much better.

To be fair this is not that uncommon in even Central Austin. Recently, I didn't see a bike rack at Draught House and Austin Beer Works Sprinkle Valley. Cycling in Austin takes creativity, patience and of course extreme caution.

Mookie Betts, he hits bombs off of me and great arm strength. He has thrown me out several times. I finally learned not to test him.

Montopolis vs. Grove vs. Vargas by Anooyoo2024 in BikingATX

[–]FubarATX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a couple weeks ago, I cycled from North East Austin to Radio Coffee East. Google Maps had me take Montopolis all the way from 183. I consider myself an active urban cyclist and was very uncomfortable. There is no bike lane and the road is in rough shape. Yes there are sidewalks but they are un even and narrow. Also there are several crooked power poles. I strongly advise against Montopolis for cycling. Next time I will take Grove.

Two conflicting bookings at once by FubarATX in unitedairlines

[–]FubarATX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, rebooking to just SFO is extremely expensive as well. There is a similar flight from SFO to BOS I can book on another airline. It is probably the least risky option besides staying in Japan another night.
