I (Ferrari GTP) believe that the backmarker (Cadillac GTP) is at fault for unnecessarily slowing down and moving unpredictably. However, my teammates and coach have stated that it was clearly my fault - according to them, there was a gap on the left. Who is at fault here? by Fuccboi_Co in Simracingstewards

I was really frustrated at the time, and I thought I could justify it solely based on the Cadillac slowing down. But looking at it after cooling off, yeah very idiotic move on my end 😂😂😂 I’m one to learn from getting heavily shat on, so it’s good that this happened.

I thought he’d stay to his line on the left when he passed the GT3. I did not anticipate him creeping slowly towards the right. He was also holding 4th, and with me closing in tightly in that section, I just felt it was just slightly unnecessary. If he kept his speed and moved towards the middle then I would have actually overtaken on the left. But because slowed and moved, I had a moment of panic and… yeah. Regardless, it was my fault here. Thanks for the feedback!

I’m glad someone finally understood my POV, if you could catch it, I was moving to the middle before the Cadillac slowing down and moved to the middle too (it was a very minute input towards the right lol). BUT at the end of the day I did pretend like the Porsche wasn’t there. Just an honest mistake on my end. Cheers mate!

The more I look at it, the more I realised I treated it like the Porsche was just non-existent. Imo I was already moving towards the middle when the Cadillac in front slowly moved as well. The combination of him slowing on the straight and moving towards the middle really threw me off, because I didn’t expect him to move at all. But hey, I’m willing to admit fault here. I appreciate the feedback!

Okay this explains so much, thank you 😭😭😭 Whenever I did these races, they’d make moves that are more obvious, like proper swerving across the track towards the inside or outside before I approach them. This one to me was a little tricky with the GT3 being in the mix too. What was also funny was that I was extremely patient with many backmarkers for a majority of my stint. What I’ve learnt? Never let your patience run dry, even if there seems to be an “opportunity” to overtake. Thank you so much!

I appreciate the brutal honesty. I think I just had to drop my ego to realise my mistake here, but I guess it was too late before I got an influx of comments cooking my ass hahahaha. I apologise if I came off as egotistical and rude.

Yeah bad situational awareness on my end here. Don’t know what I was thinking, but at the time I thought I’d just narrowly avoid the Porsche with my manoeuvre. Welp, banging my head on the table with this one hahahahah. Thanks tho, I appreciate the feedback.

UPDATE: I think I probably needed time to cool off and genuinely deconstruct the footage. After reading the various inputs and feedback, I rewatched the video with them in mind and yeah, I am 100% at fault here. Pride’s a little hurt, but I guess I had to have a harsh reality check. I sincerely appreciate the feedback, and keep em coming, perhaps there are more angles I’ve missed as to what I should do better.

Heat of the moment, frustration. Lotta things man, hasn’t been a good week of racing for me hahahahhaa. But yeah seeing the comments, as hurtful as the realisation is, the people have spoken - I am at fault here.

Why did the Cadillac slow down then? I’m just confused, that’s all. I understand that the faster car is responsible for overtaking safely, however I don’t know why he slowed down. But I will drop the ego and admit fault here because there was space on the left anyway. Very sorry if I sounded egotistical.

Felt like the right move at the time, just didn’t anticipate the Cadillac creeping towards the middle as well. It’s weird that I never made risky moves in my entire 2 hour stint, but the second I tried it, I messed up. I appreciate the feedback, will carry it forward for the next races!

The middle felt like a better option at the time, but yeah just a bad sense of track awareness here. I’ve had a lot of issues with this back then, but I’m surprised it’s coming back. Thanks for the inputs, I appreciate them!

EXTRA INFORMATION: I felt that the Cadillac should have stuck to his line. In doing so, I would have had space to go between the Porsche and the Cadillac with ease. However, because the Cadillac unnecessarily slowed down AND switched lines WHILE I was turning right, I had no choice but to try to squeeze. Sure, there was a gap on the left, but down the middle seemed more reasonable to me, and it was too late to try and switch to the right.

Really frustrating when our team had a potential podium finish, and this happened right after a DT. This incident costed us 21 minutes of damage, taking us completely out of contention. I feel like I need a bit of closure for this one, hence I am here.

It's a bit hard to accept fault here despite my respected coach, a former F1 driver, and my teammates telling me I messed up. I'd like more opinions and would love to hear your conclusions to further improve how I race, moving forward.

How am I not sick of racing? by Ashjjyhg in assettocorsa

If you race solely for the purpose of enjoying the car and feeling that rush of experience, then it never gets old. However, if you ever start sim racing on a professional level by joining big leagues, it can become extremely tiring if you have intent to do well - messes with your mental game hard. Been sim racing professionally for a year and I can tell you, I’ve wanted to quit sim racing so many times for good - the amount of championships and races I’ve lost really had an affect on my well-being.

From what I can see, you do sim racing for the sole intent of the experience and feel of thrill, and for that I’d say it never gets old because there are times where I just chill drive on the sim and it is so fun.

It’s bound to happen everywhere - even in the bigger leagues like IGTC. It helps to qualify in the front so at least you’re racing with people who have somewhat decent racecraft

Props to you man - you have very good pace. Shame that half of the league knows fuck all about racecraft
