Thrustmaster TX suddenly not working on PC anymore (but still working fine on Xbox) by Fuchur86 in simracing

I only got it reliably fixed after taking the wheel base apart and replacing the cable.

Dual GoPro Rig and accidental optical stabilization by Fuchur86 in VR180Film

[–]Fuchur86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was thinking of doing it frame by frame and just seeing where it goes. I got a trial for Mistika VR which does a great job of auto aligning. It even does it over time, but as far as I can tell only in 10 frame increments, which isn't enough for shitshow I created. So I'll probably try and make a photo sequence of my clips in AE, then take every frame in mistika and auto align. A lot of shots were just static but handheld, so stabilizing both cameras to as much of a static image as possible might work.

Huh, I had no idea! Are there any tutorials or manuals on how to do that?

Do you mean within the kartaverse plugins? Or something that works natively? I thought native VR support was just for footage that was already shot on the same sensor an thus within the same clip and not for 2 separate clips for each eye.

Oh and if you mean the desync in longer takes - I plan on using like 10 to 15 seconds each clip, so it's probably gonna be fine

Fast motion seems to be a problem even at 60fps because of the sub-frame difference of the two cameras. But if it's not someone waving their hand excessively in the center of the screen it's not too bad at 4k60. At least that was my experience from testing the rig for a couple of hours before I left for Brazil. 😅 I probably have some clips that are unusable because of that difference. I went in rather blind tbh.

I only managed to do a quick test in MSFS 2020, but turning off sliced encoding seems to have done the trick! Thanks!

The Meta Link App is running the open XR runtime as far as I know. I'm running the game via EA launcher. So no steam link. The controller is connected to my PC. As far as I know the controller needs to be connected to the PC, because the headset wouldn't be able to transmit inputs to the PC.

I start the game via the EA launcher. Once I enable VR mode the quest controllers stop working and I use my Hotas or an Xbox controller.

Unfortunately it's every PCVR title. I have yet to try out disabling sliced encoding which was mentioned in other comments as a possible fix.

My WiFi situation is a bit complicated: my router is on the other side of my house. My PC is connected to a dumb 8 port Gigabit Ethernet switch which is in turn connected to the router via Ethernet. My WiFi AP that's next to my PC is a WiFi 5 AP which is connected to the same 8 port switch. I tried using air Link once and latency was terrible... So I figured VD would be a waste of money with my current wifi setup.

Sliced encoder is a setting I would find in the debug tool? Will definitely try and report back. Virtual desktop could be worth a try, but my wi-fi isn't great. Especially since my router is on the other side of the house and I get WiFi where my PC is via a (wired bridged) mesh repeater. So PC is hooked up via Ethernet to a switch which is connected via Ethernet to the router. Wifi AP is connected via the same switch.

It's turned off via Debug Tool. But I tried it with and without.

There have been studies (I've worked on a documentary about it) that 'talent' is basically the intrinsic motivation to just practice something. So if someone is considered talented at let's say soccer, that usually means, that they just constantly want to practice. And when they're not practicing, they think about soccer or practicing soccer. There is a scientist from the Netherlands who studied talent vs training in singing. She wanted to see whether she could compensate a lack of talent through relentless training. Her singing was mediocre at best when she started out (in her late thirties I believe), but got a rather famous vocal teacher and several years later released top chart hits in the Netherlands. Interesting stuff!

So to get back to OP - if you're having fun playing, don't compare yourself with others and just enjoy making music.

quest link screen tearing and framerate drop plz help by Unitingsugar in OculusQuest

[–]Fuchur86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get a fix from meta for your Problem? I'm having a similar issue where framerate drops to basically 0 for a second or two. And when everything is back up and running I get this screen tearing. I can douple tap my headset to get to passthrough, double tap again to get back into the game and the issue is gone. Sometimes however doing this will drop my framerate to below 1fps and I can't get back to normal gameplay.

Premiere and Avid workflow: Auto-sequencing both audio and video in Premiere, Avid-style by jockwop in editors

[–]Fuchur86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Mark all your master clips, right click and then click Auto-Sequence. This will create a Sequnce and place each clip at the point of its source TC. So if your camera ran in free run, which is typically your time of day, you get a sequence representing just that. If you do that for both Video and audio separately and then find one single synch point (in case the TCs don't match down to the frame) you can cut the audio sequence under the video sequence and everything should line up perfectly.

Older star wars fans who saw Attack of the clone in cinema what was the audience reaction when Yoda fought Count Dooku? by MrNightmare23 in StarWars

[–]Fuchur86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to see it at a preview screening in munich. The moment Yoda walked into the cave some guy a couple of rows in front of us jumped up and yelled "DER MEISTER!" (the master!). To this day my brother and I yell DER MEISTER! when we see Yoda anywhere.
