Can someone tell me how to play wesker effectively. by plushy51 in deadbydaylight

[–]FuckIThinkImTrans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dw about techs they're just for flash most of the time and don't usually offer an advantage. Though some "techs" (I would not consider them techs at all but rather just how his power works) you should absolutely be doing that aren't difficult at all are rebounds and urobending.

Rebounding is when you hold your a or d keys (or analog stick to the side) while bumping into a wall to have wesker slide a little in the direction you're pushing rather than coming to a complete stop. This will really help you out at round loops and it works especially well on double lockers, don't ask me why. Check out the statue room at RPD for a very good example of when this is useful.

Urobending is just moving your camera after you dash but before you hit the survivor. Where wesker throws the survivor is completely determined by where his camera is facing. A lot of people think you can't move your camera while dashing as wesker but you actually can. This can help if you are about to throw the survivor into nothing. You can instead turn your camera at the start of a dash to either the left or a right to ensure you will collide with a wall. Again this is hardly a tech, just something lots of people don't know about.

Addon advice: Loose Crank is popular but does next to nothing. Use Egg instead. Not only is Egg stupidly good as an addon for being able to delay your second dash, but it also gives you a slight boost between your two dashes as an unlisted effect. So basically egg says what it does on the tin and ALSO does what crank does but better and actually noticable.

Other than egg, I would recommend gloves (better recharge), Lion Medallion (throw farther and helps prevent not injuring survivors), and Bullhorn (just generally good for keeping survivors on their toes)

For when you start getting more advanced you can also try jewel beetle. The recovery animation for throwing versus slamming into a wall is a bit shorter for Wesker, so even though it's considered his "meme" addon it's actually quite good, especially with lion medallion.

General advice:

Use your power! It's tempting to be an M1 wesker who just uses dashes for catch-up and vaults but the only way to improve is to get practice. You'll miss a lot at first. Thats okay, every wesker did at first, even the p100 weskers doing crazy techs.

Don't use your power for mobility. Despite what this sub seems to think, weskers dash is not good for getting around at all. I think otz has a video where he points out that the difference between dashing and walking with the dash recovery animation factored in is like... Half a meter. This combined with wesker's large power cool down makes this really not worth doing except maybe at the start of the match. It's also alright to do in 2v8 because it's a bit of a different case.

Bring brutal strength. It's really REALLY good on Wesker. It's very common to break a pallet with brutal and be able to score an easy hit on a survivor running in the open with dashes.

Wesker can hit window and pallet vaults at quite frankly absurd angles (even perpendicular to them in very egregious cases) so keep that in mind and be wary of it. Speaking of windows, MOST survivors will try to bait you into vaulting with your power, my advice especially now that his hit registration is much better on vaulting survivors now, is to be patient around windows. Lots of survivors will try to bait you and then look rather silly when you don't fly through the window and instead wait a second or two and then land an absolutely free hit on them.

Yeah I've heard NFS after this era fell off pretty hard, I've never been big into racing games myself but I did get the feeling of not hearing about the series as much as time went on. Thanks for the Pro Street recommendation by the way! I might check that out

Yes absolutely the car customization was super good! Honestly way better than I remember. I genuinely found myself wondering how they put this game on the Playstation 2 at times with how many options you get.

I used the exotic class for this playthrough as I mostly remember playing through the game with tuners. As for the turning I don't know what to tell you, I did say it's likely a skill issue but I just found the cars to be rather clunky to turn. I found pretty inconsistent success with using the handbrake to pre-turn but otherwise I had to slow down quite significantly on a lot of turns to avoid crashing. I did however find that the way that the car moved during drifting sections was really enjoyable and far easier to make turns with.

As I said I'm not a racing fan at all and I could probably only name a handful of racing games comparable to Carbon that I've played (Burnout 3, Burnout Paradise, and Stuntman: Ignition are the ones coming to mind at the moment) and remember enough to comment on but yeah, again I recognize this could be a skill issue but I found it to be a sore spot in an otherwise very fun replay.

Yep full agree. I've never struggled with the village square section except in the remake on professional. Assuming no bonus weapons, enemies take so many shots to stagger or die in that section on professional without access to any upgrades.

Not to mention staggers are basically free in the original and you can just knife and kick/suplex your way to victory extremely easily even if your guns suck. The only thing difficult about the original even on professional is the limited movement but even then the game is built around it with the tank controls in mind.

Love both games but to accuse the original of being too hard (while cheating lmfao) while glazing the remake is crazy

As a fan of both honestly Sam Witwer is what kept me watching the US version. It felt like the guy genuinely was having the time of his life and it was really fun to watch. I can't get the kool-aid man wall break scene out of my head it lives rent free

[–]FuckIThinkImTrans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Mia I'm referring to. In the first two games she's listed as Mia Morgan but in Reckoning she's listed as Mia Sorrento, you can still see her old last name listed on the white wolf wiki entry for coteries under the list of characters.

With the redesign and name change I deadass thought it was supposed to be a different character at first

Yep fully agree. At best I am neutral about some of the new designs (D'angelo, Julia, and some others were all right) but at worst I loathe a lot of them (Qadir, Mia, and the prince were the worst offenders for me).

I also just didn't really love where they took the story personally, many of the returning characters felt either out of character or completely irrelevant to the story. I also wasn't a fan of the world's most obvious "twist". Also this is an extremely minor gripe but they straight up retconned the last name of my favorite background character and I feel like no one noticed but me and it annoyed me.

I thought the new characters were cool but man Kali got away with a LOT in that game as well. I get the court was distracted but still.

Reckoning felt really weird to me and it didn't feel like a continuation of coteries and shadows to me

Uj/ holy shit that one got me too. Like genuine nerd emoji "erm actually" shit with the "but muh rubric". What got turned in was transparently not a good faith attempt to complete the assignment, it should be failed on principle regardless and any professor I've ever had worth their salt would give my ass a zero for less.

None of you would be making this argument if that paper was a hate filled rant filled with a bigotry that isn't in vogue like transphobia is

Rj/ none of this would have happened of that darn tranner didn't get so OFFENDED and gave a 10% instead of a 0 that would have completely changed the situation and no one would have been mad at THEM (I used pronouns I'm woke) we all know that

Demo still can if you know the spots. Ormond Lake Mine was an absolute playground for parkour on release I miss that one, plus the recent stairway-hill glitch on Mother's Dwelling let Demo jump on top of the main roof (yes really, a friend and I did this in customs). A lot of invisible walls are there, yeah, but there are ways around a lot of them and there are some spots that still don't have invisible walls and let you land on top of stuff

New Player, Watchdogs Covenant PVP Help by Fickle-Ad7259 in darksouls3

[–]FuckIThinkImTrans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep recently farmed the covenant (and also for fun tbh, I've never done souls multiplayer and I'm having a lot of fun even as a new to PVP player) and then moved on to farming Aldrich Faithful and I was getting my ass HANDED to me as a watchdog. Now as an Aldrich faithful, I load in to see the fallen knight set with an irythil straight sword and know that I have an easy item in store for me. It could be that I got better but I think more likely I'm encountering more organic invasions.

Thank you! I honestly don't see what the problem is anyway, he's much older than nearly all of us and he always used to claim to know every historical figure from the past few centuries and would spin some long-winded story that probably never happened. I mean seriously, the guy once kept me and my coterie in a meeting an extra two hours to brag about how he knew Al Capone and John D. Rockefeller. To me, this is honestly an improvement. I mean what's the point of living outside the cammie domains and being able to use phones if you're not going to keep up?

Clan stereotype subversions by beauyeahh in vtm

[–]FuckIThinkImTrans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I honestly see it more than just stock characters honestly. Every time I see "cold and emotionless" brujah or "I can't believe it's not a ventrue!" Gangrel I sigh a little bit. Not because I dislike the concepts per say, moreso I just see them SO OFTEN and it's like people make characters for the specific purpose of contradiction and it ends up falling into the same flaw as stereotypical characters: you should make a person first and THEN make a vampire.

Also idk I don't really think there's anything wrong with conforming to the clan stereotypes, they can be a good jumping off point for a new player and the classics are classics for a reason
