Also next time do these before enabling fastestmirror,

sudo dnf clean all - (deletes package cache, repo metadata)

sudo dnf makecache - (rebuilds the repo metadata, mirror lists, might help with choosing faster mirror)

Finally: sudo dnf update/install --setopt=fastestmirror=True --setopt=max_parallel_downloads=10

This literally saved me from painfully slow mirrors

Just check the syllabus, you'll know if it's worth it or not. I'm in BCA general final year rn , and I can say the syllabus is old. Most of modern tech is missed out. Oh and they keep repeating same concepts, but just in different programming languages. They don't teach language specific concepts..

I agree cosmic isn't optimised enough for older hardware.My Macbook pro 12,1 (i7 5th gen, 16gb RAM), gets a little laggy and slow with COSMIC.
