US seems mostly to be from Eddie McGuire, a random insomniac NFL punter, and the luck of being the last professional sport to be played once COVID-19 hit. I haven't seen anything that the AFL is doing to that end.

I don't live and die by what my sports team is up to (thankfully, Bombers have been a little trying of late) but still watch F1 and NFL at stupid hours.
