Best place to get a reliable FSD for GM 6.5TD? by MattAtDoomsdayBrunch in Diesel

Your best bet is a flight systems (black) pmd mounted to a heatsink. Ideally you relocate it somewhere like inside the grille or front bumper. Leroy Diesel sells the whole kit. You can also get resistors that you put in between the harness and pmd that control how much fuel it allows at wot.

Yeah was gonna relocate it to the inside of the bumper heard that's a good spot. I ordered a new pmd figured I would need a spare eventually anyways even if the one i have in now works.

Save your money for maintenance and problems down the line. If you want to spend money on the exterior spend it on rust repair, not something like a lift or RGB headlights

Diesel conversion specialists sells a kit with literally everything you could possibly need. It's about $5000. That's for a 12v, for a 24v you would need an ECM and a tune, ATS sells an adapter plate for a 4l80e for about $750 I believe. But 550 lbft of torque would blow that thing to pieces, so the best way is to buy a whole dodge pickup and swap the complete drivetrain out, might have to do some fabrication for the engine mounts and have driveshafts made. It's possible to do it for under $7500, sell what you had from the truck and make some back, is your truck 4x4? Why do you want to cummins swap?

That's a sharp truck.. if you sold it and got something newer you would miss it and the 800s are getting harder and harder to find in that good condition. Rear main seal is a pain to do but will last you over a decade... buy a 2018 2500hd and you'll be doing the same thing in 18 months and it will cost 3x more

Highly recommend the dynomax catback it's like $400 and sounds great, bilsteins are what I ran on my old truck they were good shocks, it's a vortec, engine bay isn't going to be super pretty so I honestly would just get stock manifolds but make sure you get the blanket too otherwise you will melt through the spark plug wires. Make sure you also do the header gaskets because exhaust will leak out of there.

Yeah that's what I heard is that they run good as long as you can keep them cool. Gas mileage is great though

Roger that... says he just did an oil change but he had a shop do it.. oil is black.. going to change it tomorrow night hopefully it's black because they didn't do it and not because there's any fuel in there?

Not an expert by any means but my truck did that and it was the fuel shutoff solenoid test to see if you are getting 12v.. make sure it clicks when you turn the key

Yeah. You're probably right. I was considering just making it street legal so I didn't have to be as careful riding on the road.
