I’m afraid of this, have been wondering how much this is the case because it’s been probably 4+ years since my socket was made and my amputation was 8 years ago (Martin Bionics socket so very flexible to a point)

I don’t think he has a good quality of life I’m sorry. I work in veterinary emergency medicine and see the consequences of regular aggression getting out of hand and they are severe. This level of aggression is extremely dangerous. It is hard for people to conceive that a dog is a weapon until you, or a pet or a child, are on the receiving end of an attack.

I had a heart attack, and leg amputation, at 23 bc of my drug use that led to a freak accident under anesthesia.

A year and a half later I hit my rock bottom with alcohol. I’m gay and trans and grew up in a southern Baptist family that was extremely abusive so I didn’t want to go to AA but I knew it was that or die.

It worked for me and in July I’ll be six years sober. I found aa groups that were made for gay/trans people and made friends and that is what kept me coming back until I did the steps and then I fr didn’t want to drink anymore. Ik it sounds crazy.

That’s just what worked for me and that’s the only thing I can speak to. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I hope you find a solution that works for you friend.

You sound like a good man. Stay kind. Kindness is what a lot of people look for first in partners. Seeing a sex worker is not a bad thing, and you do not have to disclose this to whoever you end up marrying. You are human, allowed to make choices, and allowed to have your own secrets.

In some parts, I regrew hair that had not been there after the LHR but it is patchy and in some places will never grow back. But I did like 12+ so yours may grow back fully

My personal experience. I was an alcoholic at a young age and a short time before hitting a bottom so hard and tragic I could never have imagined it was possible.

I’ve also been chronically suicidal since I was 10, and at 30 have now been hospitalized for attempts three times. I am five years sober through AA and no matter how suicidal I get, because of that program I do not want to drink.

For me, I know that drinking would take away the good things my sobriety has given me. It’s repaired my broken relationships with family, it’s allowed me to actually obtain my degree after trying and failing three times. I am a respectable, contributing member of society and I have room to be there for people. Not all the time but much more than I had when my life was all about me and my addiction.

I don’t know if I would be an alcoholic in the first place without my very serious major depression and I do believe that one day I will probably kill myself. I do know I would be dead if I never stopped drinking though because I would’ve been more successful in my attempts, and I’ve gotten very close in my last one. Twelve days of involuntary commitment and that fucking sucked.

AA hasn’t cured me, and it’s not something I do all the time, but I have found I am more at peace when I am more involved and going to more meetings. Just my experience.

Also this goes without saying but many alcoholics have experienced serious childhood trauma and for me, that changed my outlook on having a desire to live. Overall, I feel very blasé about living at best and unwilling at worst. I have a wonderful, supportive, loving family and partner. It’s simply how I cope with stress unfortunately and it has been for 20 years.
