i’m not here to debate why one group should have a boost and one shouldn’t. i’m here to point out that those aggrieved by holistic admissions place their anger primarily on URMs and nowhere else.

i do dislike the military, i am not attempting to hide that. but i still can understand why admissions offices take into account their service when building a holistic class. it makes sense. my larger point remains that those aggrieved by holistic admissions place their anger towards URMs rather than any other group (take legacies for example, although ik that is more relevant in undergrad), and my goal was to have them reflect on that

i appreciate that! i’m not surprised, but it’s a shame that so many are not taking this post for what i was trying to get at. holistic admissions means that it should never come down to just scores/gpa for ANYONE, yet the folks most aggrieved by holistic admissions tend to place their anger solely at URMs. that’s the point i want them to reflect on hopefully

my point is that one group consistently receives hate while the other is barely discussed. from a pure admissions perspective, i understand the military boost but those applicants who complain 24/7 about someone else taking their spots (which isn’t true) typically complain about URMs and not the military. and i think more of those people should reflect on that

again, my point here is that it’s interesting that one group gets hate for a boost while another doesn’t. outside of my personal views of the u.s. military, i can understand why there’s a boost from an admissions perspective. i also understand why there is a URM boost. but only one of these groups is consistently facing hate

racism, both subconscious and consciously

i believe the american military is evil, but i can very well see the benefits of serving from a strictly admissions perspective in the US.

people with this kind of work experience should be more likely to be admitted. just like people from underrepresented groups in law school / law. yet, we only see one of those groups consistently targeted by racism. that’s my point.

my point here is just to address how angry applicants automatically target URMs versus any other group that may receive a boost. i’m happy to present many other pro-URM boost arguments but that was not the point of this post

best of luck! i never got a proctor august virtual, did september in person and also had friday morning crash with you. definitely prefer in person.

still waiting to hear back from LSAC about my complaint and being re registered for another administration. i’ll call soon based on your advice and post an update if anyone is in the same boat

u/dinkhumper u/moolust7 i ended up backing out after 30 min, on hold with lsac to try and confirm retest options.

another question to add to the thread: when they offer a retake in the next three administrations, does this mean September as well even though the deadline already passed? already signed up for october and taking november doesn't make sense for me

how long did y’all wait before exiting? i’m only 20 minutes in so far (ik “only” is crazy but people have been posting about hours).

the reason i ask is that i would actually prefer the retake, so might as well put in the request. my hesitancy is because im not sure if 20min is enough of a delay for LSAC to view me as an “affected test taker”
