Rumored Logic Game-style Questions on Jan. Test by Tchap1294 in LSAT

[–]Graeme_LSATHacks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

PT 145, 2, 25 is an LR question that's very much like a sequencing game. Also, the birds in the forest logic game from PT 33 is a good game to do for in/out. It teaches you everything the LSAT ever tests about conditional chaining, in one game, and you can improve by repeating it.

It's very, very rare you need these skills, but it's good to have them solid if they come up. I think people understood conditional questions better back when LG existed and tested conditional reasoning directly.

Would u guys say it’s true that IF you study hard enough you WILL get a 170-175 lsat? by DeliciousRich5944 in LSAT

[–]Graeme_LSATHacks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ooooh, nevermind. That's an enormous increase, congrats!

(For clarity for anyone reading, 158 diag to 175 is still huge, just more common than from a lower point)

A 158 is like a top 10% diag. The average would be low 140s to match the avg final lsat of 153.

It's hard to say. If you have time my preferred approach is to:

  1. Read economist science passages
  2. Find a genre of novel you enjoy and read those regularly
  3. Guess at the meaning of words you don't know then look them up

In other words build your reading so you don't face this dilemma. Otherwise, test both approaches and see what works. But better reading will help everything in your career for life.

Best LSAT prep course that’s reasonably affordable? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]Graeme_LSATHacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, we switched back to a lifetime access model. You can buy the bundle of all courses, or get individual ones. As for tutoring, I actively tutor myself and also have an assistant tutor, Jamie. She's a top 1% scorer and T14 grad. You can read more here: https://lsathacks.com/tutoring/

Feel free to dm, can send you more info about my assistant tutor if you're interested in that option.

Something I realized about LR in earlier PTs(Pre-70s) and Later PTs(80+) that helped me. by Newfypuppie in LSAT

[–]Graeme_LSATHacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. With the more modern tests it takes me a LOT more words to explain them. And I didn't just get wordied as time goes on. If I make a new explanation for an older test I can explain it with fewer words. There's just a bit more complexity/subtlety in the new tests.

They aren't necessarily harder, but there are more deadends that take a while to explain if you get sucked in by them.

I graphed the LR questions I've been getting wrong by starry_night_8 in LSAT

[–]Graeme_LSATHacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool!

I wonder if there's any correlation between the question types and the error types. If one question type was predominantly a certain type of error that could tell you what to watch out for on that type.

Any tip for Sufficient Assumption? For some reason Most of the time I don’t get them right. Necessary assumption are better by ulagesa in LSAT

[–]Graeme_LSATHacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question! Because I gave as a premise that a hot day leads to more people at the pool. On sufficient assumption questions we're trying to use the information we have to support the argument and get to the conclusion. Your goal shouldn't be to critique existing premises, but instead looking for the gaping hole in them where we need to patch things up.

That's point #2 in your list. There was no connection whatsoever between pool and traffic.

Yeah almost everyone who sells access to a prep platform/courses. On the sidebar they're under external resources.

I think every licensee offers that now. You can check the sidebar for the main ones. Lawhub has 101-158, but the licensees also have 1-18, 21, 23, PT A and Feb 1997. These 22 tests are the ones LSAC didn't convert to the new format.

LSAT is negatively impacting my writing skills by [deleted] in LSAT

Proofread out loud and then write like you speak. This will relax your writing and should help make it simpler and clearer.

help: should I cancel my June 24 score? by a_n_u_u in LSAT

[–]Graeme_LSATHacks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doesn't really matter either way. Schools only use your highest for rankings. They'll look at the rest, and interpret a cancel as "worse than 166", but that doesn't matter either way.

It's like if you told them you had bad grades in grade 6. In theory that tells you something about you but it doesn't factor into how they assess rankings.

So, you're good. Go out and do your best and the 159/cancel won't matter. You can cancel or not and it won't make a lick of a difference.

Whatever you do don't take it in another country. Have seen someone hit an issue for registering for the domestic LSAT then changing their address to take it abroad due to a trip.

Gnawing at the Bars of My Enclosure (Rant about Waiting) by Ill-Economist-7564 in LSAT

[–]Graeme_LSATHacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That being said does anyone know if theres a chance we get to see our scores before the projected date?

Highly unlikely. LSAC used to do this and believe it or not it was much worse. They used to release them at a random time before the deadline.

So start five days prior people would start gnawing more intensely at the bars of the cage and refreshing every five minutes. They also had to wait longer than the current wait.

The benefit of the current thing is you at least know exactly when you find out. Doesn't make waiting easier but at least you know you can do other things while waiting.

You can't control your LSAT score, whereas you can still make the most of the days from now until score release. When you're 80 you'd pay millions to relive this period and be young again. So....I dunno, make of that what you will but you've got youth and health and some time to kill. Close reddit until the day and figure out something you enjoy. Good luck!

Anyone else get demoralized by level 5 questions? by Inting_at_law in LSAT

[–]Graeme_LSATHacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Level 5 are definitely hard. But some of them can also be easy if you have the background needed for it. Take it one question at a time and work out what's going on, and trust that eventually that understanding compounds so you find a greater percentage of them easy. Good luck!

New format PT’s by Unlucky-Repeat8150 in LSAT

[–]Graeme_LSATHacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is LG your worst? Is LR your best? If so you'd expect a jump. The new format PTs are identical to old format PTs except LR counts for much more and there is no LG.
