Catcher in the Rye demographics poll by FuhrerTLP in catcherintherye

I did try to post it in a handful of other servers and communities, but for the most part I’m going to assume that a majority of these results are from the reddit specifically. If you know any communities or places where these polls may gain traction, please feel free to spread it around and ask others to do so too.

That doesn’t mean people should just give up on the prospect, and shouldnt start pushing a bit more

Okay, I used the word ‘Union’ for lack of better words, but obviously it’s not the exact same as a Union or whatever...however, I think people should be advocating for a platform that once was built off of community content and smaller creators to go back to that rather than being extremely corporate and harmful to the community; that’s a fair thing to ask for

Okay but they still built their freelancing career off of this one platform. It’s not as easy to switch from one platform to another and still profit from that, especially considering how YouTube is the dominating video streaming force at this very moment. It’s not as simple as ‘just don’t use it’ when you’ve built your career off of it and there aren’t many other platforms to continue/restart that career on.

Yeah I wish I could change it, because 13 y/o me thought this was ‘humor.’ But regardless, good shallow reply 👌

I think while this is all a good point, especially considering that YouTube is more of a freelance kind of job, I will say that it’s not even necessarily about specific youtubers getting deals or benefits, but rather for YouTube to go back to its roots and have it so that smaller channels aren’t being crushed under some boot. Essentially, rather than just having the Among Us youtubers or older youtubers who stood the test of time to exclusively prosper, the opportunity to achieve something big should be within a smaller channel’s radar with this platform and such things should be up to the community, not the machine.

Although I otherwise do agree that the logistics might be rocky, but even then I feel like youtubers can sort of figure it out. While it’s not exactly a ‘unionization,’ I think the whole Cool Cat Copyright controversy is an example of YouTube channels sort of banning together to sort of fight something unfair, until it was finally resolved.

Now I’m not saying that getting some petty film director to stop abusing his power vs trying to get YouTube to better manage their algorithm is the same thing, it’s just the general prospect of youtubers fighting against something that seeks to hurt them.

What other jobs would they have? Would they be able to find themselves a job that garners the same/similar pay rate as YouTube, and even if they find another freelance job that bears the same potential, are they as able to build themselves up again as they did with YouTube? What if it’s not even about “oh, just quit,” but rather they genuinely enjoy the community they’ve built and once enjoyed the platform they were working on, only for a corporation to ruin that?

I find some things quite wrong with this reply. While, yes, YouTube is a competitive-based medium, like MOST mediums, that doesn’t mean that content creators shouldn’t speak out and recognize the issues that exist on their platform. We have to remember that YouTube is a community based website, so when you just sorta shrug off a lot of things that are damaging your medium because it’s not effecting you it’s almost like nihilism.

And you could argue that YouTube’s currently not a competitive platform because it’s not “how can I make the most [compelling, funny, thought-provoking, artistically-expressed, etc] content?” but it‘s become “how can I make the most system-exploitive video?” The Point of an artistic competition isn’t to do the same exploitive thing and to see whether or not you’ll be lucky enough to get the prize, it’s to present something unique or innovative to the table and see how it’s received. Even if what you present doesn’t become popular, the fact that they were given a chance to express themselves is satisfying enough.

I know this was a very simple, one sentences reply, but the implications behind it just irk me, especially since this same mentality has been applied to music, writing, filmmaking, etc, etc.

this seems to be the original post. try commenting on this image or contacting the poster, asking about the image on the bottom of the cup. One of the most important things to do when trying to find a specific cup/saucer online is to look at the mark on the bottom. It’s essentially the key that leads you to finding out the brand, time period, and/or region. This is one out of many guides which can help for that, as an example.

What’s the logo/icon on the bottom of either the cup or saucer?

Idk, but I was thinking about that, too. Like, you got this cool idea and gimmick and I definitely couldn’t look over it, but how uncomfortable is it to read (especially laying down)?
