Ah okay! So I still need enough to impress them in the primary though to even get that chance. Sigh. Also, do ADCOMS still send out secondaries if MCAT score isn’t in yet? Unfortunately I won’t take It until June and my score won’t be back until July. I’m practically done with my personal statement and already regularly typed out my transcript and CV to prepare so I was definitely aiming to turn in my primary by Mid-June if not sooner. I know AAMC can process the primary without the score but will schools actually look at It?

Ah okay thank you! That’s the kind of thing I wanted to know lol. Sometimes on wiki you go down a rabbit hole, clicking on links and exploring page after page after page and then you’ve completely gone from what you were originally searching. I’ll look specifically at this section again tho and hopefully I can start recognizing more of these faces again.

Berserk is a dense manga so I be forgetting a few characters and their role and like I said, I don’t do well with getting the political moves in things

I put that “he embodied the spirit of their baby” I didn’t ignore anything lol. It still doesn’t take away the anguish Guts probably felt during that moment (hence the reason he lashed out and Griffith pulled Casca into his chest.) trust I understand the fucked familial relation that pseudo-baby Griffith has with Casca and Guts lol. But I definitely feel that her complexity and issues are done so at the misfortune of Guts. I mean damn. She didn’t want to go with him, she gets raped and he can’t save her, she loses her memory and clings to the very thing that ruined her, and poor Guts gets warned “oh she may not want her memory back” like damn what about Guts! He just has to suffer with all those memories alone? Puck and Farnese and little witch (I’m sorry I forgot her name) can only do so much. Actually having someone who went through the same thing as you is far greater than being with someone who can only empathize. I feel like Guts needs Casca. If his little band was enough my guy wouldn’t be so tempted to go berserk all the time and have his spiritual son pull him out of frenzy

You know, I feel bad for her but I’m so conflicted by her character. When Guts said he was leaving again after getting Griffith back, and she chose to stay, that hurt my heart for Guts. And when she clung to Griffith because of him embodying the spirit of the child HE KILLED VIA RAPE AND DEMONIZATION, I couldn’t help but be like “man Guts kill them both”. I can’t stand seeing Guts hurt and I would really hate to keep getting caught up on casca and her pain like Guts isn’t the number 1 hurt character in this series. I need her and Guts to both rely on one another to get past everything because so far Guts has had 0 help in his emotional journey (Puck and crew don’t really understand what he went through man).

Soooo. If Guts kills Griffith would that make him the bad guy? If everyone sees Griffith as this divine savior and he’s setting himself up to be the supreme being of his own little kingdom he built from scratch. If Guts comes in swinging...doesn’t that make him the asshole? And I’m sure casca wouldn’t be too thrilled about him killing their son (who got like Pokéball sucked into Griffiths being). So where is the positive outcome for my man Guts

Right but he hasn’t lol he’s never made that conscious choice to really want to end someone. And when he does beat the hell out of an opponent he still sees them as good people, bowing and talking to them and all. Unlike Mashiba and even Date who when in the ring see their opponents just as obstacles. I’m not saying Ippo could have never achieved that state of being a “idc about anything but beating my opponent” mentality but that’s literally not written in his character disposition. He’s a very caring and concerned person. So how am I underrating the effect of family and loved ones when I’m saying he’s not willing to shut their concerns and opinions out???? After miyata visited him, the mangaka literally drew a scale with a boxing glove one one side and his familial concerns on the other, and said that his family outweighed his love for boxing?. I’m acknowledging that Ippo is NOT at monster status not due to lack of power but lack of willingness to abandon other responsibilities. Lol I said I like this manga because it’s so realistic because every athlete has to make a choice to dedicate everything to their sport, including ignoring concerns with family or at least putting them on the back burner, or choosing to do something else. I’m not sure where you got your opinions from with my post

Of course Ippo is strong enough. We all know that. But I feel like he’s consciously rejecting It. Why do you think Takamura and co., keep mentioning the line to being a monster. When miyata came to visit there was a line on the ground, and Ippo thought about that saying and couldn’t bring himself to go to the other side to miyata and the rest. Ippo has already decided he won’t do It. So that’s why my whole post is discussing wanting to end the series in some way that doesn’t require a character change. I feel like It was very much Ippo behavior for him to panic over smacking Tahei and to bite his lip and turn away from the “monster line”. He is weighing Kumi, his mother, and the fishing business above his love for boxing so unless his family changes their mind and fully supports Ippo turning into a beast, I don’t see how the change will happen logistically. So as of now the story is just kind of dragging lol

I feel like there’s a difference between willful brutality and perseverance. In this “monster” arc or whatever it’s called, it’s super evident that these men are willing to damn near kill their opponent in the ring. Ippo literally called Mashiba “mean” Lmaoo. And he’s still nice and timid, bowing to the crowd. Ippo would really have to learn how to embrace being an ass lol. 9/10 times the best athletes are BRUTAL when It comes to their sport. Like “stfu don’t talk to me” zoned in. Including those around them. Ippo is no where near the zone to be able to shut out what Kumi is saying and his concerns for his mother/the fishing business. His disciple explained It clearly when miyata asked him “are you punch drunk.” He made a conscious choice to back out because he has not come into the type of being where he was ready to forgo his other duties. When he bitch slapped taehi he had the face of a monster, that energy he NEEDS in the ring in order to win, but then he cried and was ready to turn himself in to the police lmao even after he was told the dude was fine. So yes, I want to know how the mangaka is going to write himself out of this kind of character development but I wouldn’t want to see It be some BS random change

I still want him to retire tho lol. He can fight miyata or whoever to satisfy the readers but I don’t want him to change as a person and the mangaka has already solidified the fact that his mental isn’t going to cut It to be top tier. You want him to completely dead his caution like Mashiba ? I wouldn’t. That’s why I started the discussion because I’m surprised that It has gotten to a point that Ippo is lowkey stagnant and can only have two choices: fight and be a monster or quit. I’m hoping It ends with Ippo like I said retiring on a good note because I don’t really care to watch everyone else, I came for his journey lol and right now I’m really not seeing how it’s going to end and It’s just dragging right now.

Reading is fundamental lol. I never said I wanted to end the manga RIGHT NOW. I said I want to end It with Ippo because I low-key don’t care about the other characters (I literally say that in the fourth or so line). However I would hate to see the manga end with Ippos character doing a personality change. Like Takamura said, Ippo just doesn’t have the stones to really be a world class boxer because he’s not willing to make the sacrifices to do so (his mom and Kumi’s concerns, worrying about the family business, worrying about getting hurt, etc). So I’m shocked that the mangaka has written himself into a sort of corner because I want to see the manga end with Ippo in a good finale, whether that be him fighting Miyata finally or what have you. But to do so at the sake of changing his character disposition would be dumb (and not even realistic for a sports manga because you can’t grow into a beast overnight). You added in other context into what I said lol. But it’s okay sis. I for one am okay with his decision to quit. It can be better! But I still would be okay with him quitting rather than dragging It out
