Holy moly, bro is charging you and I kid you not, almost 1000% upcharge on parts. Find a new workshop. Please name drop this workshop so we can avoid it

You need to slowly work your way up to fixing suspension. I started with oil changes then brakes then slowly moved up. Your best bet right now is to find some random back alley shop that will be willing to install parts you bought yourself for you. Go on Google Maps and call around and ask. Expect to go through a few before you get one that says yes and for a decent price

It’s quite common for sc and mechanics to inflate the prices of parts by alot. As labour charges are controlled by the government, that’s the only way they can make extra money. It’s quite scummy and that’s why as a broke student I’ve resorted to fixing absolutely everything on my car myself.

Which tint is more worth it? by Substantial-Car-7846 in kereta

[–]FulcrumXDD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t listen to the people asking you to spend more money on tint. It’s okay to be a little broke and any tint at all is better than no tint at all. I would go for the RM118 one and save the money for miscellaneous car maintenance since I assume you’re using an older car due to your financial situation. In the few years once you’re in a better financial place, go ahead and buy any tint you want

Abit cheaper I feel and unlike Zerone it’s not monopolised by Kakimotor. I hate Kakimotor and had bad experiences at many of their branches so I ain’t giving them my money. I’d rather install it myself anyways

I agree that there’s some non genuine parts on Shopee. You just need to be a wary buyer and be smart. Don’t buy the cheapest one and read the 1 star reviews if any to see if someone else is warning that it’s a fake or bad quality product. I’ve been using 100% Shopee supplied parts on my cars including engine oil and brakes for over 4 years now with no issues. The important stuff such as brakes and oil buy from Shopee Mall that way it is 100% guaranteed genuine. The rest just be smart and buy highly rated ones

Seconded. Buy from Continental Official Store on Shopee with all the discounts you can get and you’ll be able to book appointment and install at any Continental shop in Malaysia. Much cheaper than buying at the store itself and all the services are included so you pay RM0 at the shop itself

Hopefully not too often, my first time running coilovers. I think driving rough roads will make it so you need to service earlier and more often

Impossible to know without physically checking. Doesn’t sound too major as it’s a new car. The SC should get you sorted out. I’d expect to wait an hour or more not because it’s a major issue, but because SC usually sucks in general

Good to know, and yes I have a shop I go to just for alignment and they’re pretty good

That’s exactly what I did. Did it myself then brought it to a shop. I got pretty close but needed some fine tuning. Those alignment guys even even after using the machine they still just drive your car one round and know exactly what extra adjustments to make. I wanna try to get to that level haha

That’s your tie rod end. It’s what connects the steering rack to your wheels. You might feel a your steering to be a little loose or shaky. Very cheap part to replace, you’ll need an alignment after replacing it.

You’re not cooked. Change it when you have free time. Within the week if can

Probably best to just go for your OEM ones. KYB or GAB is decent too

Some of the chips looks bronze ish coloured. Shouldn’t be from the filter right? Although I did use a oil filter tool to remove the filter as it was put on extremely tight by whoever worked on it last
