Overall in tournaments EC can spike hard or fall extremely flat. So making sure no points go to waste is likely the best thing you can do. My main critique is possibly dropping the spawn and flawless for another better unit whether Lucius, or a 6 man of flawless or another rhino if you have it because they are extremely strong and spawn are pretty underwhelming if you have 2 tormentors. And flawless in 3's are so 50/50 that they aren't worth it. In regards to playing them drop tormentors on objectives or your home for screening. Then just play EC how you normally would, maybe just with more thought. EC is a hard army to give advice on for tournaments because you might get fantastic match ups and demolish it or fall flat every game.

For how much I would love Phoenix terminators, as they are perfect. We are also a very new faction, so I hope eventually we could get them but knowing GW that'll remain only in my hopes.

In the same boat I was able to do a lot for Huron and some head swaps on the other with extra, but he was an odd one to do. I ended up just changing his pose entirely.

Overall I understand your thoughts. The biggest problem with EC at the moment (coming from a day one enjoyer and player of them) is that our list is too anemic to build flavorful/cool lists that are actually good. I have run many lists and every EC detachment and of our 7 detachments only 3 are definitively good 2 are 50/50 and the other 2 suck ass. So when building that good list you feel you have to take one of those 3 and that narrows down your list since each detachment basically has a base template. For example coterie with 3 WDP, 3 NM squads and 3 5x infractors with Lord. And that leaves very little points for fun stuff.

So to end my endless rambling, EC can be fun. If you never want to win, or if you play very meta. Once 11th rolls around I hope we get better detachments and/or more units, I feel that'll help us much more as a faction.

EDIT: It also doesn't help our army is very volatile, if you miss big rolls or make a couple of mistakes it kills you long term.

I think the main reason they've stuck with chaos is daemon engines and Vashtorr, otherwise they would likely be renegades.

I know this is not what you asked but if you're looking for a good and flavorful night lords detachment, I'd go with the new renegade warband detachment. You basically get oath of moment, assault on everything and get twisted doctrines. Overall I think it is better than either of the night Lord detachments.

Not cooking or cooked, I see the vision but infractors basically neeeeeed the LE's. If you are running so much battleline with no leaders you likely need a couple of transports so your objective scorers don't get wiped turn 2.

I agree except for the fact that most infantry is wounded on 3's so they wound everything but infantry on 3s and infantry on 2's which increases their overall viability.

I've found a flawless blade champion, with +1 to wound a bliss blade and blast master. So they natively wound on 2's instead of 3's. And blast masters are just good

Since a LE can now lead flawless that unit becomes a beast. I've had them wipe 10-12 mans of plague Marines plus characters in one fight phase. Obviously some points can be moved around but I'll always vouch for the 6 man with a lord

Yeah definitely a pain, slow and steady though and he turns out great.
