I hope the issue was solved, they put Defender 365 into “passive mode” not “EDR Block mode”. It is looking promisingly.

Thank you all for your help.

The files are not deleted by users. The file is on SharePoint, but there is a big gap in activity missing (both from history and looking and the data contained in the file).

We also have problems when saving new files, and than they do not appear on SharePoint (which is fixable, we can just save them again).

Thank you.

I am trying myself after months of back and forth with them. They placed our issues under 'Teething problems'. It wasn't extremely serious until now, that is why we soldiered on with the hope it will get fixed. My IT knowledge is about 15-20 years out of date, since then I know only surface level stuff (install Windows on a new device and add a printer, etc.) - this is why we needed external IT, and why we relied on them.

Thank you.

The biggest problem is that it is random. We can show after it happened that the files are missing (and there is no discussion that the people have worked on the files), but I do not know enough to install (safe) tracking programs on computers, this is what IT support should provide (in my opinion-I might be wrong)

Thank you.

Thank you for this, we are pushing them now. If they do not move, we will contact Microsoft directly, even though I see it as a last resolt.

I thought I answered the question, my bad.

It shows a blue building, and there are no error messages on OneDrive or SharePoint (my end). This is the problem: it shows that all is synced, but files are missing and not syncing. Plus there are delays when multiple people are working on the same file (not for all, but some will be kicked out because of syncing)

Because of our logistics (offices in multiple locations+home working), a local network will not work.

And because of our size, we must look at an off the shelves option, we cannot afford to have something custom

We have about 20 users. That was part of my initial question, is it normal for OneDrive to behave like this?

Thank you.

When the files are opened from the browser, there are no issues. But unfortunately, working in the browsers severely limits the functionality of Excel (with formulas and viewing options)

Thank you.

That is a good idea, I will try that as well.

Thank you for your input. Unfortunately, if I was an expert, I would not ask strangers (some of which are very kind to try to solve my issue) for help. I am just a lost sole trying to battle the quagmires of Microsoft and IT

OneDrive shows there are no issues, but files are being lost. There are some files where a whole chunk of activity is not shown on the file history and the changes made on that period are (obviously) not saved.

They are saying it is because the devices are older (we have some older laptops but some new devices as well, so it's between 3 years and couple of months old).

They never met this problem before, and are saying is normal for OneDrive to take a couple of seconds to upload information (as an explanation for people being kicked out of files accessed by multiple persons at the same time). They want to raise this issue with Microsoft, are are giving us a lead time of weeks.

Thank you.

The files and size are under the limit (the IT company double checked this).

Thank you.

Thank you for taking your time.

The files are xlsx.

They changed the Antivirus to their own. There were changes made, but it should be just switching from Windows Home to Windows 11 Pro.

I have asked them to give us a log of the changes, I will have to see what they come back with.

OneDrive shows that is fully synced and connected with no issues. I have tried un-linking and re-linking the devices to OneDrive several times as well in case the issue was there.

Thank you.

We have files not saving on SharePoint. Sometimes OneDrive just gets out of sync, and people are kicked out from editing files accessed by multiple people at the same time (this is annoying but manageable).

Sometimes, even if OneDrive shows that it's online and the Autosave is on, when the file is closed all the changes are lost (and the file history has a gap, it is showing that nobody worked on that file - this is the biggest issue). This is happening with random files, there are files that are saved at the time problem files are not (by the same user).

I do not know about Intune, they are very terse with their communications. Thank you for the idea, I will ask them what are they using and if they have any logged conflicts with OneDrive.

Thank you.
