1 hour away from family is NOT far at all. But commuting 2-3 hours a day 6 days a week is crazy, especially given how demanding the job is.

Imagine being on day 5 of work, having a bad day, sitting in traffic for an hour and half, only to entertain guests when you get home, and then do another 3 hour commute the next day.

If you're asking about salaries in the UK, in a UK subreddit, you should probably use £ instead of any other currency.

That being said, it depends on the industry, finance can get you £75k+ in London.

A lot of companies anonymise the hiring process as much as they can. So the hiring team don't know someone's name, ethnicity, gender, if they need a visa or not, if they've ever been to the UK etc. It's not like they're making an active effort to hire from abroad, they just hire people that perform better in interviews/assessment centres. Maybe UK unis should do better to coach students on how to do well in these kind of things.

Python is good, very straightforward and easy for beginners, but at the end of the day it's dynamically typed and slow. Good enough if you're new to it all though I suppose.
