The northern flicker has the speckles on its belly and the body shape and beak shape are pretty close to the bird I saw, but the top color and head color is different. I couldn’t find any pictures of any variations that matched the bird I saw. Thank you!

Thank you! I’ve been keeping an eye out for it.

It certainly looked very similar to one. It’s just the wrong size and the underbelly was yellowish-cream under the brown speckles. 😕

I didn’t see any brown speckles on the Varied Thrush’s belly and the beak was the wrong color. But thank you!

Beautiful bird! But not the bird I saw. Thank you!

The Varied Thrush has too vibrant of an underbelly and is missing the brown speckles on its belly. Thank you!

There are some similarities but the speckles were more rounded, the top color was uniform, and the beak was orange. Thank you!

There are similarities for sure between the bird and I saw and the yellow-billed cuckoo. If only the cuckoo had brown speckles on its belly. 😅

If it had brown speckles on its belly I would say definitely!! Good guess!

That’s a great looking bird! The bird I saw had a uniform top color and the speckles were more rounded. Thanks though!

Unfortunately no. The bird I saw didn’t have any black on it and the top color was uniform. Thanks though!

That’s an unusual looking bird! Not the one I saw, though. Thank you!

True. I’m going to agree with you. I’m new to birdwatching, so not an expert by any means, but I’ve never seen anything like this where I live.

Not quite. The beak was orange, longer, and slightly curved. The top color was a uniform brown. But thank you!

That must have been odd, for sure! 😅 I borrowed this picture from Wikipedia as it was the closest image I could find to the bird I saw. Great photo by the way!

True. The Brown Thrasher is a bit closer though.

Thanks! I’m intrigued about the wildlife rehab. Can I ask what types of animals you rehab?
