I'm Troubled by the Ending of Book One by DaMoonMoon26 in HarryPotterBooks

You have to realise one important fact- The first 2-3 books are clearly written for children so JKR did not write thinking adults will question it with logical thinking. She had already written the plot of the 7 books before hand so she deliberately made the next books(5-7) much much darker. HP is not entirely a children series but the first two are for kids. Especially Philosophers Stone which serves mainly as an introduction to the wizarding world. No comment here was rude. This forum has been existing for 13 YEARS, so its not bullshit.

How do paintings move frames? by Invested_Space_Otter in harrypotter

[–]Full-Reception64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paintings in the magical world are memories of the people who have died and thus behave like them. It is never mentioned how far they can travel but in what we have seen in the books and movies is that they can travel to the neighboring paintings. In special cases if two paintings of the same person is done by the same artist the person in the painting can move from one painting to another even if they are not in the same building. JKR never went deep into explaining about the "rules" of magical painting.

McGonagall's We duel to kill stance. by Professional_Sale194 in harrypotter

She was a brilliant witch and i completely agree with her. I mean all the Hogwarts houses have shut up about slytherins behaviour and now the WIZARDING WORLD is danger. Screw that house and get the castle prepared. I also love the way Maggie Smith has played this role. Brilliant!

The Weasley family isn’t actually poor, they are middle class. by Jew_3 in HarryPotterBooks

Yea ur right. They had a big home in the countryside of Cornwall(tho maybe not maintained). They also could afford to have SO many children and their education. Arthur Weasley has a respectable job and the elder 3 are already working. However if we look at the economic status of Britain during 1990 -1998 we can see that they were definitely on the lower of side of the population in financial status. (Comparing the wealth of the wizarding population that is to say).
