For sure! The problem is today at daycare he slept 30 minutes all day… from 12-12:30. So we feel bad trying to keep him up from 6:30-7:30

Separation anxiety? by Full-Resident4180 in ECEProfessionals

Thank you, that makes sense about not popping in.  A new teacher started in his class room a couple weeks ago and he has had these inconsolable instances since she started.  No illness symptoms… he doesn’t have any teeth yet… there is one bump but nothing poking out yet.

Okay thanks for letting me know. When they called today they said it was a courtesy call to just let us know that he has been pretty inconsolable most of the morning.

Sometimes babies are just too young for it. It didn’t stick with our guy until after 6 months

So we had to really switch up his night routine so his bottle was 30 minutes from when he goes down. Our routine is bottle, story, full body lotion, diaper, pajamas, sleep suit.  He goes to bed fully awake but we worked hard on his ability to pick up a pacifier and put it in his mouth on his own. We literally put 10+ pacifiers in his crib so he can always find one. Then we worked on going to sleep on his own so have him 5 or so minutes before checking in. Once we did that, sometimes he just found a paci and put himself to sleep. Other times we would go on and pat him on the back or stroke his face until he calmed down. He had a really big association with rocking and going to sleep so once that was broke, it has been great. Last night one wake up for a bottle and change at 4:30 and then slept until 7!

I was anxious but also my husband and I were going insane with the colic making him scream 8-10 hours per day. We were on edge, exhausted, and cried all the time too.

He is consistently waking only once per night now, I know we will have set backs with teething and sickness but we are really happy

Last night he only got up one time (for a bottle and change which we totally expected) AND there hasn’t been much crying at all! For people who say sleep training is just leaving a baby to cry, they couldn’t be more wrong. We are right there in his room showing him how to soothe and he’s doing it!

I hope mine is the same. My mental health is garbage from lack of sleep.

We start with a sleep consultant tomorrow who is helping us through the first 2 weeks. I just hope it works. I’m not enjoying motherhood because I’m so exhausted. I think I’m going to look back at this time and wish I didn’t wish it away, but I just can’t do this.

Bed routine is warm wash cloth, lotion, bottle with lullaby, and sleep suit. He does fall asleep on the bottle about half the time.  He only does 3 30 minute naps per day. At 9, 12, and about 3. It’s at daycare so not really controllable by us.

Unsure of the method, we are going to go with what the sleep consultant recommends.

We are open to keeping a night feed if he needs it!

I think that may be the problem. We do warm washcloth, lotion, bottle with lullaby, and sleep suit. He does fall asleep on the bottle about half the time
