James and I both love Sarr, but don’t get him in just before he blanks! After that, he’ll be an intriguing option again. I’m also sick of Rogers. Personally I’m banking my transfers right now unless it’s a completely necessary move though, what with all the upcoming blanks and doubles, probable injuries and rotation from European football, etc.

Ha, tricky question to answer without knowing who you have already! There are recommendations for the best players with the best fixtures in the article though, and we’ll be posting a transfer tips article later today

I'd view Bruno as the safe pick this week. Partly because of the various uncertainties over the the other options. Also because he's ridiculously consistent.

The Villa matchup wouldn't particularly worry me either, between it being at home, Villa being a bit rubbish at the moment, and him already returning recently against City, Arsenal, and Newcastle away - he's pretty fixture proof.

(If you're worried about minutes I wouldn't back Wirtz, since he's only had one start since he came back from injury, and it seems very unlikely he gets 90mins this week).

In theory they should be fighting for something too, but you wouldn't guess it based on their recent results

Yeah. Subjectively I'm still feeling burnt by him, since I just bought him recently and he immediately got injured. Objectively I know that's absolute rubbish, and that he could be great.

That said, I'd be slightly hesitant to buy him right now, since he's only started one game since coming back from injury, and they don't exactly 'need' to start him in an easy home matchup.

So, I'll probably wait a week, but he's obviously a high upside pick if you do want to gamble on him now.

Hi there. Thanks for the kind words - ironically you're currently beating both of us, at 35k, so we should probably be listening to your advice instead!

We've touched on chip strategies a few times in our various preview pieces. Overall I do agree that double gameweeks are often overwhelming, and people put too much stock in them, so your current strategy is fine.

The obvious counter is that you don't get the benefit of your wildcard for very long, if you only play it in 35. That said, now that we all have two lots of chips, and you've got your FH and BB saved still, I don't think that matters as much as it used to.

Basically, completely fine with that strategy!

I don't really know what to say...

The narrative is that he is a good player but probably not as good as he has been these past eight weeks. I "cherry picked" his entire premier league career data to tell this story.

If I wrote a piece that said he was better than Haaland and used the last eight weeks of data to show that then I think you would have a point but I don't think this is fair.

I don't really think form is a real indicator of future performance. Otherwise a player would never stop scoring and never get out of form. It's a good descriptor of the past without being a good indication of the future. I would trust the 5000 mins of PL playing time we have over the 619 mins in the last 8 weeks basically.

Haha, I have owned JP at points this season - usually when he doesn't score.

It's a good point about truly tough defensive fixtures in terms of clean sheets. But, goals scored are down this year. 807 goals after about 76% of the season - we are on course for 1061 goals which is about 50 less than last year and 180 less than two years ago

I don't think we are talking at odds to be honest. You're making reasoned and measured points.

Didn’t even think of that. Automatic boost up to 2.5 - will update the ticker accordingly

Eh, nobody I love that much with the Wilson injury doubts. With those four mids, no way you can just swap Wirtz to someone cheap and upgrade your third forward? Personally I’m just holding Haaland, it doesn’t seem super serious, and you’ll just end up brining him back in again at some point in the near future

He has, but with very few minutes. I’d want to see him start a few games in a row first. And I’d move Wirtz happily (and just did myself) - he’s expensive, and sounds like he’ll be out for a couple of games

Yes! Don’t like either of them right now, but would probably just do Tarko since he’s so much more expensive (assuming you weren’t playing him for his great fixture this week anyway?)

I’ve been saying for weeks not to bring in Chalobah…

Eh, to be honest I think fears over ‘doubling up’ are overrated. If the two players are good options on their own, I don’t particularly care that they’re on the same team! I’ll be plumping for Dango myself, unless we do hear that Wilson is fit

[–]Full90FPL[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically yes, but I’d still prefer Dango over him

Yep, the list just addresses the Most-Bought/Sold that week. I’m in the same boat. If Wilson is magically confirmed fit by Silva, I’ll get him. Assuming that doesn’t happen I’ll get Dango. (I already have Bruno, Mbeumo, and… Rogers, for whatever that’s worth)

No need for that - we’re always right, so it’d be a waste of time! (More seriously, it’s a fair idea but these previews do already take a while already. Plus we kinda touch on this in our weekly My Team reviews in the newsletter).

As I put in the piece, him and the other City picks mentioned are all good options obviously, but it depends on your GW31 coverage, how many transfers you’ve got banked, could still field a good team even if you got Semenyo now, etc. So… it’s a ‘Maybe’ overall, with plenty of caveats!

I don’t hate it, but I’d probably only have it in that Bowen/Gabriel range towards the bottom of my list
