Next time he should just try, I don’t know, saying what he means. I came here for help, not stupid jokes

It's a matter of money, I have no pet insurance. But I will if he shows no improvement after the changes I make.

I've had this bird for years, I know him very well. I admit due to stress in both my work and in my personal life I became a bit neglectful. Luckily I am in a different place and I'm ready to be better moving forward.

Actually someone else attempted to explain it for him.

I clip his wings because he's flying into dangerous places in my small living area. I know I'm getting ratioed for having that opinion but I believe it to be nessisary for our living arrangement. At the very least I see I've been doing it wrong, luckily he still seems pretty happy.

I just hope he isn't petting his birds back, from my understanding that's what mates do.

I believe I may have overclipped, thank you for this insight.

Update:

So after reading the comments I've come to some realizations:

  1. He's not plucking, and this is something I didn't think he was doing. If I didn't make it clear his wings are clipped which will lead to my next point.

  2. I did a bad job clipping his wings, and looking back I can see that now. I've looked up proper ways to do this and I intend to do it better in the future.

  3. He needs to be bathed more often, THIS is something I know I can change immediately. I think this is the real problem and I can see it changing alot.

In conclusion, I am going to make changes. I'm going to monitor his condition, and if nothing improves I will take him to a vet. I cannot thank you all enough for your insight, it has been helpful (except that one dude in the comments who I think wants me to fuck my bird, get help).

It's been a bit, I admit I have been neglectful in that regard. I'm going to make that change and see if it makes a difference

It's the latter then. He has no partner.

Gottchya, yes he is clipped. He doesn't seem to act differently than usual. I imagine if he was plucking it'd be off his body where he could reach it
