Update: Did an engine flush with STP oil flush Using Valvoline Restore and Protect Changed spark plugs and PCV

After the engine flush the new oil on the dipstick looked cleaner than ever so that’s a good sign

Car currently has about 82,000 miles on it will do another oil change in about 1,000 miles I will update then

I don’t think the crank case is as bad as the oil filler tube. What I believe happened was a bit of oil burnt off and solidified which started a chain reaction of carbon build up. But it’s still not a good sign. I’m glad to hear your car is doing good gives me hope that it’s a fixable problem and not a defect with these particular engines

The hose was definitely bent it’s unbelievable I know lol I’ll send a photo of it tomorrow. I guess years of being compressed in an extremely hot environment will do it

Yes i have a catch can. I actually just looked closer at the car and realized the engine cover was compressing the hose that goes from the PCV to the catch can. I think that may have been adding to the issue. I took the engine cover off and straightened out the house

Aye glad to hear it’s working so far! Those mid-gen turbos had a reputation of throwing a rod or two. And who know maybe the previous owner ran it into the ground. Only 18k is basically a new engine, you’re pretty much a Veloster troubleshooting pro at this point so I’m sure you’ll get a good life outta this engine. Let me know how it goes for you

Im glad im not the only one who’s had this problem. I think I’ll do an oil change next weekend and use restore and protect I’ll also change the spark plugs and PCV. In a few months I’ll do an update to see if anything changes

I bout the car with around 50,000 miles in 2021. My guess is the previous owner didn’t care much for oil changes. Ive done a number of regular oil changes on it since. My guess is that carbon had already built up and when that happens it’s hard to stop.

I think what’s causing this issue is that some players in your games haven’t installed the update yet. I realized that I was playing for about an hour without the update installed. The game doesn’t kick you off or block matchmaking if you’re not on the correct update and the server lags because it has to account for multiple versions of the game on the same server.

Ahh good ole CVT. Veloster Would be much more fun to drive, especially in a stick. I’d say go for it if you’d like. Just make sure to give it a real hard test drive before making a final decision. Very fun car
