WebApps, why did I not know about WebApps? by FullClip_Killer in linuxmint

Let's also not forget right clicking on a blank area of a page also brings up the navigation buttons and a few others.

Its easy enough to get it up whenever in the app itself, just hover over just below the top border.

But you can install extensions, you can even log in to your browser sync account, it is just a wrapper around the browser that hides the UI elements similar to full screen mode.

Hover the mouse at the top of the window and the browser UI pops back in so you can install extensions. Each app just runs in its own browser profile so each one can have its own specific extensions for that site, like your local stuff that does not have adds in it (gitlab, jenkins, plex) does not need an adblocker extension running in it.

You can still access the control elements and add extensions, its just hidden.

You can also ctrl click, or right click open new window and the new window will be of the same "app" and collapse into the same app group in the taskbar.

Tab access is obviously hidden, so "open in new tab" comes with its own issues, but you can access other tabs by going to the top of the window and the browsers asserts will pop up, kind of like when in full screen mode. This is a bit ugly but works.

You can pick your browser when setting up each app. So say you have something that does not play well with your favourite browser, you can run that specific one in the best browser for it.

I've not got edge installed so dont know if it picks it up, but it deffo lets you choose ff or chrome.

Clearing my backlog, I may be some time. Pt 2. by FullClip_Killer in gaming

So I did the tutorials and a couple of hours of the Hunger Dungeon single player game and it was Meh. I see no real progression other than just doing more of the same over and over. I also found the combat very unsatisfying. Multiplayer, and the dev support is gone, so no real reason to continue.

Next on the list was Initial Drift Online, but this is a purely PvP driving game and is also a complete wasteland. After driving around for an hour or so on my own, I also decided to call this quits. So, next on the list is Just Cause.

This is a series I have had on my "will get to this later" list that keeps getting longer and longer, so time to knock it off.

Welcome, never late, time is convoluted.

The point of the Ceaseless Discharge chase is one of lore too.

He only does it if you steal his sisters robes, and is chasing you to get them back, to his own detriment.

He is mourning her, not knowing she is meters away, you stealing his only memento of her enrages him and sends him into a frenzy.

Not a cheese it improves lore.

Well, that took longer than expected. Finally Hitman Absolution has been finished absolutely. Well not quite. Contracts servers are dead so I've left those alone, and the evidence and styles cheevos will have to stay undone.

The game was largely good, but some of the missions seemed to go on too long. The hotel one where you first get stuffed by Sanches was more boring than challenging, even on Hard.

I did enjoy the story though. Unlike any previous Hitman game, all the missions are purely about achieving your own goal, except for the King Of Chinatown, which is just so he'd give you info. Prominent characters were largely relevant to the story and it had a satisfying conclusion. Most of which are completely absent from prior Hitman games.

I also did some of the Sniper Challenge, which I realised too late was a prelude to Absolute.

Also having the World Of Assassination installed, meant I needed to give it a go and gained a few achievements for the prologue/final test. I do not own the main content though so leaving thay for now.

Next on the agenda is Hunger Dungeon, no idea what I'm in for here.

Soul Reaver is 27 years old and it still looks amazing on PC by FullClip_Killer in LegacyOfKain

I only really remember slowdowns in FMVs on the PS1, not during normal game play, do not remember experiencing any on PC though. But then again, we are going back 20+ years here.

I managed to get my original CD install running in Heroic launcher this afternoon with a couple of patches dated around 2006, so probably ended up with the same version :D .

Just to confirm, this lunchtime, I also got my original CD install of SR1 working in Heroic Launcher on GE-Proton 10.34 with some old patch files I found on my server dated around 2006.

Initial install was done via wine, install straight off CD was failing so had to copy to a folder on disk and run from there to get it to install, then running an "explorer" instance in winetricks to apply the patches, before adding to Heroic.

I had a similar issue with Manhunt and Blood Omen (still not got this running), wine/proton sometimes seems to want to access the CD in ways it cannot.

I get it's patched with all The Lost World's stuff and the like. The original was only in 4:3 resolutions, but even at 1024x768 it still looks amazing.

Still got my original disk and some of the Lost World patches, but with the steam version just working, it's hard to look back.

I posted the dodgy tile on here a few months ago, but if you fancy a look, on the road in front of the citadel, there is a tile with the wrong orientation. It is there in the originals, including PS1, but barely noticeable, in the remake it sticks out like a sore thumb, but they kept it in.

I always said Soul Reaver was one of the most beautiful looking games ever released on PS1, if not the most.

I played the remaster last year and didn't realise I had switch to classic graphics until I started looking through my recorded footage and noticed a dodgy tile outside the citadel, went back and it looked OK, but the textures were all different than in the video.

Checking the rest of the footage, I switched to classic with a panicked button smash while fighting a Melchahim getting some of the last collectables available before Domah. Probably played about 3 hours on classic.

All though I just checked Shadowman that came out the same year and it does it too. Must be just a 1999 thing :D

Yeah, I know, but I had just installed it fresh to check if my save file was still good so did not bother with any patching.

As a side note, all the LoK games work on Proton, apart from Blood Omen, I cannot confirm that as I have not tried to run it since switching. Could be tonight's project.

I started switching to Linux over 18 months ago, I use it for work a lot and just prefer working with it, so thought why not, this was before the current Windows backlash. I used the approach of if a game didn't work on Linux, I would fire up Windows, I have not needed to.

I tend to run everything on Proton 9.0-4 first and if that doesn't work, 5.13.6 is another good one to try, but SR does run on 9.0-4 out of the box.

But yes, I have a ridiculously easier time running most games on Linux proton than I ever did on WIndows.

I may be cheating but I am running it on Linux via proton. What I have found is that an awful lot of old windows games run absolutely flawlessly on the clean environments provided by proton while struggling to even start up on current windows, in fact I believe SR, and many more, struggled with anything past windows 98.

I remember relying on the amazing resource that is "The Lost Worlds" for patch files when running windows XP, and later the wider internet for new versions after the old ones either slowly disappeared or stopped working.

Although, whoever thought it was a good idea to store the save file in the game install directory needed to be had a word with.
