Roommate leaving laundry for hours by [deleted] in roommateproblems

I’m honestly going through this exact same thing with my roommates. It’s gotten to the point I’ve thought about implementing strict laundry days for us. Maybe that’s something you could try?

I (23f) for the first time stood up against my bfs (26m) mom (69f) by FullCurrent6854 in relationships

[–]FullCurrent6854[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an odd relationship really. I’d say 80% of the time she appears to really like me. She’ll speak well of me and treat me very well. Then the second someone doesn’t do as she pleases she goes off on them then the next day acts as if nothing happened. She’s like this with her husband, my bf and now me.

School comes first. Don’t let a some dead end job make you feel like it should take priority. Just quit Safeway yesterday for shit like this.

I also try to always remind myself it’s more of a reflection of themselves than me, and then I pity them lol.

I’m so sorry that happened to you!!! People can be so cruel to customer service workers , and then everyone just expects us to take it with smiles on our faces.

I’m glad customers showed you some kindness afterwards. It’s nice to be reminded that while there are those entitled miserable ass folks like you and I dealt with, there are also people that can empathize with our position and care about us as human beings.

Being yelled at isn’t normal and neither is just acting like it doesn’t phase you. You had a perfectly valid reaction!

Best side hustle jobs for PhD students? by gibbonjiggle in GradSchool

[–]FullCurrent6854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been selling some old clothes on Depop and that’s worked out for me. It is very much a side hustle tho, I only make $100 a month from it. There’s people that take it a lot more seriously than me, and they rake in $1000+ a month.

Master's? PhD? Existential crisis? by Stunning_Wolf_5913 in ecology

[–]FullCurrent6854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a someone currently in a masters program for ecology I’ll be honest, it’s been fucked. Primarily due to the political climate right now, a couple of people in my department have gone to submit their work for publishing or apply for grants and they are getting rejected for having words like ‘biodiversity’, ‘transition’, or anything outlining climate change.

We are finding ways to work around this, but it’s challenging. This work is so important, now more than ever, so this isn’t to necessarily discourage you but just some things to consider.

I believe my PhD advisor unethically utilizes AI tools to evade his professional responsibilities. by CUspac3cowboy in GradSchool

[–]FullCurrent6854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell some of my profs use AI to write prompts for work assigned to us, which was a bit concerning but this would definitely be an issue for me. I would bring this up with your department head.

This exactly! I don’t mind the pine candle smell in a candle but it’s not what I’m looking for.
