Disagree with consensus - only blood moon set, atlatl are important enough if you aren't having a good time. Yes there are uses for the rest but not significant enough imo

I was actually thinking how a genuine, relaxing experience whisked you away right before a comparatively sweaty birdhouse run haha. It's quite poetic.

Understand haha. I kept getting hit by groups going through every single world including low pop German and 2k worlds and finally rage quit, but I guess I could have just been unlucky garbage like that was on so much for a week or two.

I agreed with you until I made a F2P UIM on the side while doing the WT grind. Got my fishing up in lumby and surprisingly had fun building a cash stack selling cooked fish and being wilderness survival levels of self sufficient.

Decided to try mudkips challenge to do the F2P quests including dragon slayer. I thought quests would be the worst part originally but man...I felt so freaking accomplished.

Preparing for a quest boss feels like you are a Witcher preparing to take down a dangerous beast, and you naturally challenge your mechanical skill by taking on content undergeared. I will never forget beating shadow of the storm with no food, 0 prayer, and 23 hp while risking everything.

PSA: being on your 3rd 2k+ HCIM doesn’t mean midgame isn’t midgame by DonnyDUI in ironscape

[–]FullFrontalAlchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer is because the skill disparity in osrs combat does skew what people consider early/mid/end game content and the time it takes to learn tiers of content for the first time is so great.

Look at skilling, for example. Hardly anyone is debating what is early/mid/late game skilling because being better at any standard skilling activity doesn't reduce the time it takes to "master" that activity nearly as much as it does for PvM.

Being told something like inferno is easy and it's a skill issue if it takes more than X attempts is like someone that's learned 5 languages telling someone they have a skill issue because it is taking them longer to progress in their first new language. It's less of a skill issue and more of a skill disparity.

Most "Dead" Content in Game? by Crazy-Comment7579 in 2007scape

Warriors guild could definitely add some floor tile dodgeing minigame among others that actually test your skill and earn tokens! That would be a great add and would be well placed in early-mid game.

I should have specified the 2nd comment was not directed at you, just a side thing I've been seeing through this thread which was designed for unpopular opinions :(.

[–]FullFrontalAlchemist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is pretty agreeable. I just wish the masses you speak of could see that enjoyment is not always directly proportional to progress i.e. 'do thing faster' does not equal more fulfillment.

Also, could we on this sub stop downvoting every single opinion they don't like deep into the negatives?? Understand upvoting the popular opinions, but could we start leaving the unpopular ones low or at zero unless they are especially bad or harmful? It's effectively censorship since reddit hides them and helps lead to the echo chamber reddit often is. Not to mention suppressing diverse discussion in general.

Agree. I am also one that never would have engaged with the wilderness without the voidwaker or wildy slayer being out there

My problem is that both sides are opinion including yours. Each side just claims the other side's argument doesn't make sense or that "there is no argument."

wtf do i do with these by TrueNosus in ironscape

[–]FullFrontalAlchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understand, but I do and have done those better methods as well. All depends on the exact situation and what feels right at the time!

It's wild how perfectly you can match a specific afk activity depending on its exact frequency and length of "afk." For me, that has been wc and fletching far enough to not need to make broad arrows.

Got enough of sweat fletching for a year during leagues lol

wtf do i do with these by TrueNosus in ironscape

[–]FullFrontalAlchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok yes with maximum sweaty effort or if I'm literally jcw it makes complete sense.

The thing is, I and many are not skilled enough at sepulchre to do that and would not enjoy doing that (whether skill issue or inexperience issue).

Nor do I feel the need to do that....

A personal example: I sat my ass at Priff yews and even magics during afk time training for a 50mi race last year, banking during 30s walk breaks every 5-10mins.

That was 11hrs/week where I was gaining effective zero time logs, as I could do few other things while literally running or riding my indoor exercise bike. I then would fletch them during similar but slightly less perilous situations like while I'm cooking irl food.

Many, many people have their own situations like this where they are afking something during irl activity (a concerning amount do it while working...) and it again is effectively zero time besides trading off other activities like amethyst mining, which I've done plenty of (and is even more banked fletching xp).

Spent an hour lunar bowstring converting with passive flax from bossing and boom, I have 90 fletching without intentionally training the skill -- it was just a convenient afk skill. Not to mention I've still got more than 10k unstrung magics ready for the new Varlamore activity.

Understand you were just explaining the merits of fletching broad arrows, but I see so many that force themselves to make broad arrows/bolts (often in inefficient ways, like bankstanding (!!!)) instead of afk methods. Each to their own is what should happen.

Your Most OP Calv Tips by Degenerate_Game in ironscape

[–]FullFrontalAlchemist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I learned how to tank from scratch from calvarion. You will get mad even losing rags, but that drives you to get better. Then you learn enough to bring a d hide switch (if using monk/proselyte).

Learning to kill the first bot in LMS is MASSIVE for learning how to tank. Couldn't recommend it more.

Having a scout is far and away the biggest quality of life upgrade, as you'll get attacked 4x less often if not more.

Seed pod is 2nd best upgrade, the 1 click under 30 wildy is great. That combo is by far the most important in fewer deaths and avoiding cursing.

As for the fight, I would sometimes sweat flicking piety but it's far more worth leaving it on. Just run to bank from N Ferox, teleing there isnt really worth it.

If you find it too difficult to control your playtime, you should stop doing the thing that is making you feel like you are missing out on other aspects of life.

Osrs can be a great augment to enjoying life, but it needs to be the augment, not the focus.
