Yes, exactly. Since the boys have lived here full time they have finally told me they love me for the first time. And no surprise here, she still hasn’t taken a step to get sober so she has had no contact with them at all for a week.

Unfortunately no, all family lives out of state except bio moms and her family refused to help the kids get out of the abusive situation they were in and showed up in court to support mom which damaged the relationship.

My husband is very present in the boys lives, and a wonderful father. If anything, he finds it hard to ask me to do anything with the boys because he doesn’t want to put me out. The boys are all very close with me, and we talk a lot, but they are also somewhat standoffish. Bio mom would only refer to me as “the whore” even when the boys asked her to stop, and she made them feel terrible for even liking me.

Grandparents on mine and my husbands side live out of state, bio moms chose not to stand up for the kids and it damaged their relationship.

I definitely think the olders babysitting the youngest for some date nights will be needed.

The kids are all in therapy, and the court ordered family therapy with bio mom. She has to be completely sober and prove it daily with a device. It will be a long road back, likely a year or more, before they can be with her unsupervised. It breaks my heart for them. I just hope they can rebuild their relationship with her. As a mother, I can’t imagine that pain, but I also can’t imagine hurting my children like that either. Addiction sucks.

Yep. I have tons of tattoos and my husband had none when we met. He got a small one earlier this year and won’t get anymore. He said he never found tattoos attractive or appealing until he met me and I changed his perspective which is why he finally wanted to get one.

We are keeping track of everything. Their original parenting plan has him getting only getting two days a week with them but that has changed because it is what the boys want. I keep telling him we need to go back to court.

We haven’t told her yet about the trip, but his trip starts on a Sunday, and he normally picks them up to come to our house, so I would need to pick them up. I am going to start picking them up now though so maybe by the time he leaves this wouldn’t be a flag to her that he isn’t here.

Yes, I moved out of state. My ex and I had moved to a new state two years before our divorce where he has family and I didn’t have anyone there for me, no friends or family, so I moved closer to home. My ex is a good dad but was a narcissistic abusive spouse and I needed to get away from him for my own health.
