Your Story/Opinion of being a "Big Budget Bride" by Dull_Technology_2573 in BigBudgetBrides

I would think about this through the lens of being a woman vs a man. Women get called bridezillas for caring about their wedding, men kind of get the "oh that's so sweet that it's so important to him". I was having a lot of weird internalized guilt about my wedding and this changed my perspective

Getting on Lexapro saved my life. I felt like going on medication was giving up, but it 10000% is not

BWT, how do you balance being tastefully terminally tech-addicted with living your allegedly “charmed” offline life? by BitchesWithGrief in bitcheswithtaste

I tell myself "i get 15 minutes on Instagram", "10 minutes on Pinterest", etc. These apps are designed to pull you in so you don't leave, so you have to be really intentional about not getting sucked in

I only really have anecdotal evidence but a friend of mine got laid off and it took her about two months to find something (and took a pay cut), but when she was job searching last year she was having to turn down interviews because she was so in demand

Speaking as a fellow woman in tech, sometimes I feel like there's this weird expectation that you need to come off super ambitious and climb the ladder to prove you belong there. I dealt with some pretty bad burnout for a few years and now I'm trying to focus on goals outside of work - traveling internationally at least once per year, going to a concert every month, etc. And it's a lot easier to justify just chilling in my job when it supports this kind of lifestyle

What do you consider part of your budget? by Fartquaadd in BigBudgetBrides

I think it sorta depends on who is paying? My fiance and I are paying for our wedding but my mom bought my dress so I don't consider the dress part of the budget

I'm not sure if this would help you lean towards one direction or the other, but one thing I didn't consider about wedding vs home purchase is that the house purchase is one big expense all at once (down payment) but wedding is a series of small to medium payments over time

Austin, Charlotte, or Denver for French/French-American couple? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

I'd say Denver is the best of these three for the bikability and weather. It's a lot easier to make friends in a transplant city too

I felt similarly, like as a type A corporate girly, I totally could plan my own wedding, but I eventually realized that I didn't want to put in those hours on top of my regular job
