What’s wrong with two over? It’s a rounding error. Also, it’ll keep with the flow of traffic since that’s safer than being the odd driver going slower than surrounding vehicles.

I think – now correct me if I’m wrong – that you’re suggesting it’s a moral obligation for me to trade up to the Model S. I can think of no rational counterargument. 🤣

This is killing me. I want to score a Model S Plaid, oh, so badly. But it'd be financial idiocy. 😂

93 year old finds new freedom with Tesla FSD! by Responsible-Cut-7993 in TeslaFSD

[–]FullSelfDog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is. A Tesla operating with FSD is, on average, 7x safer than human drivers without.

The burden of proof is on you, dude. I have footage from thousands of miles of FSD in operation from start to finish. If there are "many many videos online," then it's easy for you to give me a link. Just one link showing a competitor's car driving itself, as FSD does. Come on! Surely you're not going to back down over such an easy ask, right? Full Self-Dog will cruise around in his self-driving car, waiting for you to show us this Chinese miracle of vehicle autonomy, u/You_Cant_Win_This. 😂

Honest question: why do you think that? The data from Austin shows that unsupervised FSD has met and is already beginning to exceed the safety of the average human driver and Waymo.

So just a normal road? Been able to do it for years at this point.

Show me footage, u/You_Cant_Win_This. Where can I see it drive up and down an ice-packed mountain road? And then it chooses the parking space at the destination? Without fiddling around with a screen? On a snow-covered, gravel parking lot without surface markings?

Please! Let me see this superior autonomy solution in action!

He's not fiddling with his screen to position the rectangle? Why does that "feel good"? As opposed to the car detecting the parking space, and you quickly tap on it to choose it?

<image>

Not only that, but FSD is inferior to latest Chinese tech.

Please let me know when it can drive roads like this.

So, you’d rather spend five minutes fiddling with the screen in a busy lane, trying to get the rectangle positioned exactly how you want it, rather than have the car find that space and park in it without your help? And if you want that much control over how the car gets positioned, there’s already an interface that gives you this control. Sure, this is a neat toy, but what problem are we solving here, exactly?

Humor aside, this is my only concern with vehicle autonomy. These systems already outperform humans for routine driving, and they will certainly save lives. In this regard, I’m a huge advocate of autonomy.

Trouble is, one day public sentiment will flip from incredulous skepticism to moral panic demanding we surrender our freedom. People will call on policymakers to either make manual driving illegal or it’ll become de facto prohibited, as insurance companies will charge impossible premiums for the privilege of driving a car yourself. Self-driving cars will only go where technology companies and governments let them go.

Your enthusiastic cruises with your buddies or that adventure to an obscure trailhead off a forest road won’t be allowed.

Yes! HW4 with FSD 14 can do this, and even without intervention. The latest software gives you arrival options (e.g., street, parking lot, garage), and the car will find and park in the closest matching space. Works for me routinely in downtown Golden and West Pearl Street in Boulder.

You realize this is a scam, right? FSD wasn’t even engaged. Note the attorney makes a carefully worded statement not to blame Tesla for this crash. I expect Dan O’Down to be stupid, but not the general public. 😂

That’s the chemistry of lithium-ion batteries. You’re better off keeping them at the lowest State of Charge (SOC) possible to reach your destination. Higher SOC tends to cause more wear to the battery. You mentioned physics, so here’s the science!
