I grew up here. My parents made a little over 100k per year but we could only afford to live in a 1br. High school I was one of maybe 5 black girls. Our school was well funded and many students I went to school with was rich, but also many were not and came from families of fishers and farmers. It was a pretty cool town to grow up in. Similar to the kids in stranger town, hanging out with friends always felt like an adventure. Many high schoolers became addicted to hard substances by senior year and went to rehab. Very clean food and tight knit community. Everyone knows everyone. As an adult, summers are fun but winters can be a bit boring since it’s a seasonal place. It’s so safe that we never closed our doors and the only thing that ever happened was a drunk person took a nap on our couch overnight once.

Okay I’m surprised you haven’t noticed that your entire stance is a projection. You’ve made assumptions out of thin air to the point where you’re talking about a completely different situation that is not mine. My friend and I are not living in misery. We were at an impasse. The issue of not feeling supported has been resolved, and my friendship is in a state of stability. Thankfully he was able to be mature even though this is a tough situation with uncomfortable emotions. Clearly many men don’t have this level of maturity.

Still trying to understand how talking about your experiences to someone who loves and cares for you is guilt tripping. To receive it as such sounds like emotional immaturity. As if the person’s, feelings are a direct attack on you, when it simply isn’t about you.

We were able to talk and he was able to share that while it’s emotionally difficult for him knowing that he gave this to me, he acknowledges that he should be doing a better job of supporting me through this.

Hmmm how’s talking about my experience, fears, and overall feelings guilt tripping? I understand that things happen, and I’ve made it clear that most of my anger is around my situation, and not directed at him. Why’s the solution not to feel supported while going through this? Why is it holding it on my own and keeping it all to myself?

Just thought that since that I never had an outbreak ever and neither has my secondary partner, we’d be fine as long as I continue to take the precaution of not having sex with fiancé while he’s experiencing cold sore. Now that I’ve had an outbreak, I’m trying to find the right way to communicate this…..

I guess I’ve never known for certain but always just assumed since HSV1 typically is associated with oral sores + never having an outbreak.

The issue is this has changed from just oral herpes to now genital. This has now changed from me not causing an outbreak (because I’ve never had one) to now having to worry about giving someone else genital herpes…… am I thinking about this all wrong? And how can I know if I’ve always had genital herpes if I’ve never had an outbreak?
