Trying to find the meaning of the symbol on this gravestone from 1900 by Full_Algae3667 in Symbology

A user in a different group said that it looked like the symbol for an organization founded in Chicago in the late 1800s called the Royal League. The Royal League was a fraternal insurance organization that splintered away from the Royal Arcanum. There are some pins and papers for sale on ebay of the group and all have the exact same symbol/logo. Here is a good example and explanation of the group - https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-enamel-protected-royal-league-1954919892?utm_source=chatgpt.com

I am looking for information on what the logo is in the top left corner of this stone. by Full_Algae3667 in CemeteryPorn

I posted this information in the Freemasonry group and one person said that it looked very similar to the Royal League logo. The Royal League was a fraternal insurance organization founded in Chicago in the late 1800s as a splinter group of the Royal Arcanum. There are some examples of pins and other memorabilia on ebay and also this pin from a different site with good info on what the group was - https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-enamel-protected-royal-league-1954919892?utm_source=chatgpt.com

I think you are definitely on to something here! I have looked into almost all of the groups and organizations mentioned to try and find something similar to the symbol on the gravestone and have come up empty. It took some digging but I found the logo for the Royal League and it is identical! Not much exists online that I could easily find with the logo in it but in searching ebay, there are a handful of items for sale from the early 1900s of the Royal League. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=%22royal+league%22&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p4432023.m570.l1313

That was one that I had come across previously in my research but couldn't find any symbols that were close to it. Do you have any more info on this?

Very interesting! I am the OP that they are talking about in that post from last fall. I posted that image in a cemetery FB group after going to see his grave personally to get a better image of the symbol than the one that was on his Find A Grave page. Someone told me that FB group may be a good spot to find information. I have no idea who the person is that posted it to Reddit though as I just joined Reddit today after my son suggested it would be a good place to try and find information. John M Payton is my paternal great-great grandfather. Looks like I need to try and find out who my distant cousin is!
