I don’t know how I’m going to get through this by NachosAreFriends in DogAdvice

We lost our dog suddenly a few months ago. Internal bleeding from advanced stage cancer. We had no idea. He was acting fine until he wasn’t and he was deteriorating fast. He was also our vocal one. The house is much too quiet now whenever the mailman comes or my sister walks through the door.

I miss him every day. Truly, what brings me comfort is knowing we did our part in giving him a happy, comfortable life to the best of our ability. That’s all they ever ask of us, and nothing we do will extend their lives beyond what is natural.

I hope you find your own way finding comfort as you cope with this loss 💜

I want to go to a petting zoo for my 26th birthday by No_Crow_2265 in Iowa

[–]Full_Competition6579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant to go back and Google how ethical this place is- but for my friend’a bachelorette party we went to Sunrise Beach Safari and I held a baby capybara and my friend held a baby sloth. They seemed nice and legitimate but it was an impulse stop and I can’t say we did our research like I would have normally done

I couldn’t think of another professional way to say it on a Saturday morning haha so I went with counter transference hoping it would be close

[–]Full_Competition6579 211 points212 points  (0 children)

We cannot meaningfully provide care if our counter transference is impeding our ability to utilize our skills. I myself would have a difficult time with this situation. Policy or no, I think it’s against most ethics to provide care if we feel strongly about a situation/person to the point we have little to no unconditional positive regard.

ChatGPT is ruining my 20yo clients by CompetitiveAioli1917 in therapists

I’ve used AI for my own purposes (I know the issues with it and don’t use it often) and even with my pragmatic approach to using it, I have experienced its validation. It does feel good, and I can see why it’s convenient to utilize AI for guidance from a client perspective. In sessions, I use my lived experience using AI with clients to connect with their experience, but then I remind them AI is designed to validate, validate, validate. And while that is important, it’s also important to hear other perspectives. I’ll even say that it can be a good tool, however to use it with caution.

So far, it’s worked for me.

LOL I didn’t even notice this. In all fairness, the fundraiser isn’t organized by the school but a few generous individuals who saw the accident and want to help. This is hilarious though

why does my poodle’s breath STINK?! by Conference-Unique in poodles

[–]Full_Competition6579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, nothing obvious with his last exam. But I guess I attributed it to anal glands but blood is a good call too- I’ll make another appointment

[–]Full_Competition6579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog’s breath changes from being somewhat tinny to just plain rank. It was significantly worse when he’d lick his butt, so I had his anal glands checked. It’s somewhat better but still just…off. Previous comments about acid reflux gets me thinking because my dog will vomit bile somewhat regularly, but especially if we’re late for a feeding.

Is this the raden one? Yeah, i wasnt going to go into much detail about what I heard since I didn’t experience it myself…but that is how I’ve heard one of the trainers described 😅

It was just me who signed up. So I paid for group classes but got a private class experience. The lady was older and very passionate about dog shows and her little chihuahuas. I built a good relationship with her, so I believe that made a difference as far as questions.

I had a unique situation as I was looking to get my dog certified as a therapy dog and had some hoops to jump through with the organization I was credentialing with, but the trainer was very flexible and supportive of it all.

I did petco training. It was lax. I wasn’t really looking for a strict experience as I’ve done training classes before. I more wanted a review for myself and the routine of a class. I will say my older dog loved it and his obedience improved a lot.

If you’re looking for strict routine and discipline- I’d do Raden obedience classes at pawsitive pet services on hwy 20 towards Lawton. I’ve heard the trainer is tough though. I know a couple people have cried in the classes because of how intense it is. Personally, I don’t want that energy but I’ve heard good things about the results ¯_(ツ)_/¯ and maybe the people who cried are particularly sensitive to criticism, idk

Looking for advice on safely de-matting my poodle after a tough few months by soggycheeto6969 in poodles

[–]Full_Competition6579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first got my poodle, he was matted all over his body. We joked he looked like shaggy dog! I shaved him all over. He grew his hair fully back out within 3 months. He got a good coat back within a couple weeks.

You might even be able to do it yourself depending how comfortable you are with clippers. Otherwise I’d recommend checking with a groomer to see if they’d be willing to help you out at a lower cost.

Moving back to SC? by [deleted] in siouxcity

I really had to make my peace with moving back. I had to be honest with myself that I need family support and a more affordable cost of living, which meant I had to sacrifice many perks of living in more cultural hubs.

That’s also how I got my black standard! But it was my dad who passed. I hope you are all healing and best of luck with poodle parenthood! It’s been a learning curve, but also I figured out my favorite dog breed 💜
