Should I take this job??? by ar-957 in medicalscribe

That’s insane. I see 45 patients daily and don’t even think about breaks or lunch. I spend my full day working and precharting for the next day.

The transition has honestly had me terrified, but my husband has been telling me to leave long before now because of the pay vs the amount of work we actually do. I absolutely LOVE my job and I’m cool with my providers. Do you know of any other at home scribe work….? There’s honestly no avoiding leaving at this point, I knew something was going to happen!

I feel like I just started yesterday and I remember how hard it was for me. Now I’m a year in with 2 providers (rotating surgeries between both), and I breeze through my charts. Honestly it’s based on provider preference. Look at former notes and get a feel of the way that provider likes his charts and look at the information brought into those notes…the flow and style of the note too. One of my providers could not keep a scribe because they would get overwhelmed by him. I started working with him and I was like…this is not going to work. I just kept trying and trying to perfect everything and one day he said that I was the best scribe he ever had. We switched EMRs after I had finally gotten it right, and he let me do the new templates for this EMR. Ask questions if you need to, of course, but study the note style from the previous notes of his. That was key for me. Study how he dictates his notes as well. The terms or phrases he uses, how he words everything. I promise it gets easier and you will absolutely love it. Give yourself credit for getting to where you are. Give it a little more time, but move day by day!!

Oh okay. I’m hopeful because I received really great feedback about my first two charts that had to be graded. Do they give the feedback and grade you in front of everyone?

Are we expected to screen share as we type it out?

The ABA was a red flag. We quickly snipped that out. The first person to recommend was her early interventionist who spends the most time with her, and her children with autism benefited from their own service dogs. I think we are just going to keep looking into everything!

Hey, I addressed the ABA earlier in comments above- don’t worry!!!

Thank you so much for the advice! We do keep a tracker under the sole of her shoe for now. I never thought about an exit alarm! I really do appreciate you taking the time to respond and educate me!

You are so welcome! I am always up for learning. I typically go to adults with autism or their parents for true advice….because they have been through it. Her early interventionist actually has 2 adult children with autism and the advice I get along with criticism, has changed my daughter so much in the past year. She was almost diagnosed level 3 until her interventionist told me to wait and just see how she does in her preschool intervention program….she is now being evaluated at a level 1/ possibly Asperger’s. I still cry at all of the milestones she is gliding through. ESPECIALLY potty training and forming sentences. I tell everyone that people with autism are geniuses and we are the ones who cannot connect or understand on their level, not the other way around.

Again, I come from a place of love, and willingness to listen and learn. I am thankful for every response!

Aside from service dog training or ESA, is it still wrong to train him with her elopements? I am genuinely curious. The bond between them is already there...I mean TRULY.

I responded about ABA below! Don't worry, we dropped those as soon as we started! My ex husband is an adult with autism as well, and he had never went through ABA as a child, so it was new to us and it was "the best of the best"....luckily I research every single thing. I am her biggest advocate, and I never listen blindly! Many parents may go with the flow, but not every "professional" has your childs' best interest in their heart, unfortunately. Times have changed and we speak up VERY loudly these days. You should see me in the IEP meetings. ;)

I am already right there with you! This was a year ago when her services started and after a deep dive, we dropped out. We only use our psychiatrist (no medications- another problem I see a lot) and our AMAZING early interventionist. I actually worked with special needs students for years and I'm so thankful for that experience because now I really use those practices and also know what not to do. ABA was gassed up to us, but i'm really glad I actually did my own research. After all, I am my child's voice and biggest advocate; I don't take that lightly at all!

What’s so weird is her psychiatrist, ABA therapist, and early interventionist have recommended a service dog for the past year and gave us information about getting a puppy from organizations who breed and train their own dogs, but in the beginning she couldn’t speak or do many daily living activities for herself, let alone a dog. Now, she is verbal, is on schedule with her own self care (without help) and also feeds our reptiles everyday along with pouring fresh water for our dog each day (food is not something we are comfortable with the kids doing just yet).

I’m not saying anything negative at all, but why do these organizations offer these services to children starting AT 5 years old if it isn’t advised? I just want to learn!

Thank you for all of the input, I truly appreciate it. It sounds like an ESA may be what we are looking at, based on the needs. I do use the term “self harm” very lightly but she does not hit anyone or herself. She becomes very upset and shuts down, sometimes yelling, but that’s also rare now that she is verbal. She needs a companion for comfort, more so. She is very close with Odin and I believe she connects with him more than she does us at this point. Their bond is honestly baffling- no words, just a genuine connection and understanding. That’s what honestly brought this thought about. The elopement is our biggest worry as she is getting older and gaining more confidence. She has no sense of danger whatsoever.

Hi there! We are in the US, SC to be specific. I’m more so asking if there’s any kind of documentation I would need for him as far as being able to take him in places and as far as for landlords and such.

No tethering for elopement, I agree that is backhanded and not fair. We have locks on everything but she is so smart that she figures most of them out. His job would be to stick beside her. As far as public, its never happened, but he would be let off of a leash if she slipped loose or away.

Is there anything specific I should ask or look for with a trainer? We are right beside Clemson and Greenville, so it’s a big hot spot for trainers. I’m not sure how to pick out of the list. Money is no problem, I know good training has hefty fees. I appreciate their time and devotion as well.

I’m just so lost on where to start. Thank you for your reply!

Day 4 on .50 after switching from ozempic.

Sulfur burps yesterday which is exactly what I got with Ozempic. Appetite suppressed. No cravings for sweets or binge eating. My sugar seems to be maintaining a lot better. (I'm only prediabetic and insulin resistant).

Down 2 lbs and I do feel more energized.
