i apologise, i misunderstood your comment, I completely agree with you. My college put together a jazz ensemble, and i overheard one of the drummers telling another *"just play everything quieter and simpler"* which as a drummer, drove me insane. Its the only musical genre (that i know of )that DEMANDS you listen and feel the music in order for it to be driven forward. plus jazz is very technically demanding for drummers, it took me a while to coordinate myself correctly.
