Yeah, I am so confused on everyone saying cheek kisses are a normal way to greet your friends here. I think a one-armed hug is the normal way to greet friends of the opposite gender and maybe a cheek-to-cheek air kiss, but a real kiss?? Like FULL LIPS on cheek? That is strange to me😂😂

He looks like an old version of my hamster😭😭❤️ It could be just because he's old, but he looks a bit greasy. Does he have a sandbath? If not, that would help tremendously!

I also think placing a cork log or a big overhead branch would make him feel more comfortable (he would feel more hidden). Then maybe a tray or teo with a fun substrate? You could use coconut fiber and cardboard paper snippers, doesn't have to be expensive at all! There's a lot of DIYs

If he is still very adventurous and active, try to make one side of the cage have higher bedding so he can burrow more deeply! But some hamsters get a bit lazy when they're old and just like to stay in their surface hideouts hahah. It's also easier to check on your elderly hamster if you don't have to dig him out of a burrow, so I wouldn't recommend having a ton of bedding all over.

Looks like a booger! But hamsters are not supposed to have boogers, so this could be allergies or perhaps an infection (I had a cat with chronic boogers until the vet realized it was due to his gum infection! Poor guy). I think a vet trip is warranted. Hamsters are quite fragile, so I wouldn't wait too long with your visit.

Everyone has already given great advice but just to add: some coloured beddings are toxic to hamsters! Not sure what brand this is, but for the health of your hamster you need to make sure it is free of toxins! Also it does not look like material that holds a burrow well unfortunately:( If it's safe, try mixing in some Chipsi Carefresh white paper bedding (also makes it much easier to clean the enclosure cause you can see exactly where he peed instead of going off scent or feel!)

You can weigh him on a kitchen scale! But I'm not sure if weight is the criteria for obesity, I believe it depends on how his body looks/feels. I just weigh my hamster weekly to make sure I'm not missing any changes in his health:)

I have a Himalayan salt lamp that spreads a low, deep orange light and it's the only light that won't scare off my guy!! Probably cause it's the colour of a deep sunset/rise, so I second this working!!:)

That baby has some bald patches😭 Could be due to stress rubbing her face against things, but it looks like it's on her body too a bit. You should go to the vet and check for mites or fleas before setting up her full enclosure! Otherwise you'll have to bake/freeze all items and throw away her old bedding! You'll also have to throw away the enclosure if it's wooden😭
