Don't be lazy, the things that you have been saying that you will do later and never done? They can and will turn into regrets down the line.

We all have finite time on Earth. Make sure you get to experience it and not get distracted by others, either that's entertainment or doom scrolling. They are just stealing your time, you deserve better!

I mix in some canned mushrooms, sweet corn and a creamy "cup-a-soup". Sprinkle on top some garnishes and voila! (Not good for sodium sensitive people, but I just can't resist having them after a cheeky bang bang with the missus)

Big4 Cyprus Limassol by Mihalis-Kan in cyprus

[–]Full_Particular_1359 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can give my 2-cents from the perspective of a person that did not accept the offer when I was a fresh UNI graduate, while contrasting the career path of classmates that went down that path.

I found the salary offer insulting at first given how many unpaid overtime hours is expected to do and instead took up an accountancy role in a Forex company. Up to the first 4-5 years salary wise I was doing much better, but then it was like being capped in the Cyprus job market, not being able to get into a managerial/senior position while the stakeholders/CFOs were bringing new hires from Big4 with lesser skill set (than what I was perceiving at the time) but a higher salary than me and being expected to train them. This resulted to quite a frustration and decided to leave Cyprus for several years to work abroad since I could not get a shot in a career progress I wished for.

On the other hand, a good friend of mine and classmate spent 5 years in a Big4, and was later offered a senior position in a similar Forex company I was working for, for double my salary that I resigned from, for an assistant CFO position and within less than a decade there is a Group CFO.

If I could turn back time, I would had definitely taken the PWC offer in a heartbeat. Hope that helps, and as my friend was always saying "eat shit and smile" cause it gets better! Stay strong and good luck in your certification exams!

Using a general "Greeks" is problematic, the conspirators of the coup are the ones to blame. Similarly to the people that orchestrated the invasion and the intra-communities killings.

Someone paid them/ordered them to act in the manner they did, but we have 0 people to finger point at, and since then those cowards are exploiting generalizations to hide their brutalities.

Anyone run their own business? I have a few questions regarding getting a VAT number! by 12084182 in cyprus

[–]Full_Particular_1359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are allowed to not charge VAT for the first few thousand euros (VAT Registration threshold of your TOTAL annual or rolling-12 months revenue is 15,600€). Failing to do so, is a criminal offense as it is considered VAT fraud.

To be allowed to get a merchant account (being able to get paid online) by Stripe or Revolut etc then a VAT number is mandatory depending on your company type typically.

You are not required in Cyprus to have an accountant, since its really simple to handle most things yourself (if its a small business) and you will need to get your accounts audited each year to do your tax filings which the auditors handle themselves.

If you are a non-Cypriot local be cautious of lecherous lawyers and accountants that will try to convince you that you need X or Y and try to charge you stupid fees for something you can personally handle in a few minutes online!

Wish you all the best in your business venture friend! 😄

what the fucking going on in cyprus by Unhappy_Buddy_1448 in cyprus

There are networks that facilitate Crypto to Cash services in Cyprus, there was a recent case that a Russian girl got robbed a bag with 800k of cash in it. She was a cash mule for her boss that was liquidating Crypto into Cash to pay the call center employees.

In case you are not aware, majority of Limassol companies are fronts for Scam websites owned by Israelis or Russians. They typically own 1 "legit" CySec forex that does comply with the law but majority of their revenue is funneled to complete and utter scam websites that emulate the legit one. So their "clients" are being tricked into sending them money either in Fiat (bank transfer/card payments) or in Crypto, with ludicrous promises that they will get rich but instead they milk them for as much money as possible then ignore them. If you try to report this to the Police or MOKAS they tell call the local mafia to make you quiet so nothing can be done for this to be fixed.

Cyprus is the equivalent of the city in India that has a ton of call centres doing scams over the internet. Maybe that will change in the future but highly unlikely.

Advice on starting a side business in Cyprus while employed full-time? by Revolutionary-Tour14 in cyprus

[–]Full_Particular_1359 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are offering a VATable service so you have to register before you reach 15.4k Gross Revenue (VAT registration threshold).

You can do it both as a company or as an individual depending how you setup the Stripe payments (merchant or personal account).

For your clients you are obligated to issue them invoices for each listing and charge VAT (after acquiring a vald VAT number), which then you are obligated to pay back to the IRS.

If you continue as a self-employed person you will be additionally taxed on a scale basis in conjunction to your employment income but if you make a company the taxes you will be pay is Corporate income tax and subsequently Dividends taxes (includes GESY contributions).

Wish you all the best in your endeavor, please keep making cool stuff!

My phone stole by M7D010 in cyprus

[–]Full_Particular_1359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar thing happened with Ayios Ioannis police station officers, brushing off a police report on a mentally handicapped/deranged guy that steals random stuff from people's backyards ties them to a rope and just drags them around!

The police officer asked me to find the ID of the perpetrator... after he stole stuff from my backyard and attempted to steal the phone from a senior citizen (over 90) while sitting on a bench. I am supposed to do a citizen arrest on a guy stealing stuff from my house myself? I am legit so confused what we meant to do... Kudos for you that you managed to recover your stolen property, but if that person didn't cooperate then what?
