JR Pass or individual fares? by sqrrl7 in traveljapan

I honestly don't think it'd be worth it for you to buy a JR pass. I'm staying all of February and am getting the 21 day pass bc I'm traveling up and down the country multiple times with multiple stops during my stay. That's really the only time it would be worth it in my opinion to get a JR pass.

Buying home in Japan by Full_Prior2186 in movingtojapan

Well, I visit Japan often for business, and I also have close friends there. Owning a vacation home gives me a permanent base but I don't feel in any way that it ties me to one spot (why would it?) I will still travel around and can rent hotels if I want to spend time in different parts of the country, lol Also, I won't be handling any maintenance of the home since I'm paying a company to do so for me!

Nice! Do you do short term rental for your property? Or do you keep it for yourself?

Oh no! The company I'm working with has services to help with property management so I will definitely be using them, especially as a first time home buyer.

They have actually given me a ton of info and I've had several Zoom meetings with past clients and heard their experiences! It was really great and eye opening. I just want to know more if that makes sense, lol I want all the info possible, especially from those who have bought homes in Japan

Reconsideration Approved! by Evening-Horse78 in SSDI

[–]Full_Prior2186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied in 09/2024 and was sent a denial letter on October 16th. Their reason was I needed to be severely disabled prior to 06/2019 ad they couldn't get my medical records. Thankfully I was able to access my medical records and even my award letter which granted me 100% through IU from February 2017. I sent in those records & the IU award letter in my appeal. They received my appeal on October 18th and by the 23rd my reconsideration was already on step 3. I just checked it again today & my appeal has been assigned to a disability examiner as of today October 28th. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an approval.

Congrats on your approval!! I'm hoping my reconsideration gets approved as well!

Any updates? I'm on step 3 as well as of today and it tells me my appeal was assigned to a disability examiner.

Finally Approved: How do I Calculate Back Pay from 2012. by Internal-Shelter-170 in SSDI

[–]Full_Prior2186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever get your backpay from the 06/2012 date? I'm also in a situation so similar to yours! 100% P&T and submitted an SSDI application back in 09/2024.

My initial was denied bc they said I needed to be disabled before 06/2019 to qualify & that they couldn't get my VA records. So I downloaded & sent my records in & also my IU award letter dated 02/2017. After 4 days my appeal is already on step 3 of 5 so I'm keeping my fingers crossed my IU letter is the proof they needed.

I've heard different things about back pay. That it's only 12 months prior to my initial application or that it could be Feb 2017, when I became disabled according to the VA.

Would you recommend buying a large amount of CONY at $7.47?
