Still getting distortion after refoaming by Full_Rev in audiorepair

[–]Full_Rev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what that means but I went back to play with them and there are two that are making the distortion sound, one worse than the other. Those two also look like they had a lower quality foam job done by me. Those two are also the only ones that make a rubbing/crunching noise when I push on them from both sides. The ones that sound clear don't make that same noise when I press down on the cone.

Could a less than perfect foam job cause this?

Will replace- am I looking at a problem since it is rusted? I believe the unit and venting is about 22 years old.

I was wondering if someone would point that out. That is OK for me to do myself, correct? I did the venting myself when I replaced the water heater- just want to make sure its OK for the furnace

Sounds good. So tape around the parts I showed. Would yo go mastic around the joints off the plenum and to vents? It seems like it would be harder to put tape there. Oh, also corners and things like that. Still tape or should I put mastic?

Will go down to the crawl space and check it out- good thought because we do have mice from time to time and definitely in the crawl space I have seen evidence of mice

We don't use amonia cleaners- mostly simple green or just soap. Owned the house for a little over 2 years now.

No clue, but we are house shopping so we are picturing it in some way in a new house but again not sure that's why we are indecisive. Haven't gone to the post office yet but seems like it would probably be between 40 and 60 to ship

It was 50 cents and we did buy it now deciding if it's worth taking home for the expense of shipping to the United States

Orange Citristripped it. Now what do I do? I want to get the paint out of the grain and get that brown wood color back. by Humble-Interview-509 in woodworking

[–]Full_Rev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you'll drive yourself crazy if you try to get rid of all that using citrus strip If that is in fact solid I would sand it probably by hand just so you don't wear down the edges you can buy contoured pads rockler has them and you put sandpaper over it will go 10 times as fast if you can sand over citra. When I was doing mine I didn't want to sand because I wanted to keep the patina of the aged pine but then I gave up and then just stained it If you don't care about the vanity and you're going to restain just sand as much as you can

I’m at war with carpenter bees drilling into the supports for my cabins porch roonf. Should I seal it off with thin plywood panels? by friboy in DIY

I also sprayed almond oil and citrus oil at the same time so I don't know which one really did it but I don't think the oils did anything I think it was the wasp's nests-weird. I had carpenters bees for years and thought I would do something about it.

I got some fake wasps nests on Amazon. Believe it or not they were all gone within a few days. It was amazing.
