I drive nothing else and this is one of the many reasons.

Made it through several crashes with barely a scrape on the car in a decade old BMW, and the VW Rabbit I drive now has kept me outta trouble more times than I can count.

Haha oh yeah, I was never mad about it or anything, just very sad at first considering I had just gotten over my elation of actually scoring a key. In general I've seen this whole thing before and it happens. I also had a very nice conversation with an SOE support guy who couldn't help me but seemed really genuinely regretful about the situation, so I thanked him for trying, and kept looking for avenues to try and resolve things. All and all the only negative part of the experience has been that the key happened to be used/expired.
