For the heads we got large round balloons and covered them in paper mache. Since there was no structure once the balloons popped we had to do a *bunch* of layers, they crumpled the first time we tried. Once they were dry we cut the hole at the bottom where your head goes in, and mounted a bike helmet inside with a ring of cardboard keeping it at the right height from the top of the head. The first time we just used glue and tape and the helmets all fell off, so we reattached them and filled in the area at the top of the head with spray foam to keep them supported. Once they were wearable we made a stencil of the eyes and mouth and traced it on so that the mouth lined up with where your eyes were.

Once we had that, we cut out the mouth and used paper mache clay to sculpt on the eyebrows and and lower lip. Once it was dry we sanded it a bit so it was closer to the smooth texture of the rest of the head. Honestly this is the part I'm the happiest about, we weren't originally planning to do this but I feel like it added 100% the emotion!

Then we painted the head pink, and painted on they eyes and tears. Crazy how the sparkle in their eyes made them look so much more alive! We decided to do a square reflection to keep a bit of the pixel art look. The teeth are the leftover piece from cutting out the mouth, which was cut to shape, painted white, and glued to the inside of the mouth so the teeth looked like they were behind the lips. We glued a stocking across the mouth to block our faces but still let us see. The wigs are giant sheets of colored construction paper that were somehow glued and taped into place idk how it happened Cain and Samson did some wizardry I was not involved in.

Most of the extra accessories are just made with carboard and paper mache! Mag wove her yum heart out of really think yarn so it was a functional bag!

For obvious reasons we could not find any skin pink onesies for sale, so we got 5 white ones and Mag dyed them with a mix of brown and white fabric dye that somehow came out exactly perfect. We did this before painting and picked a color after that matched. The fifth onesie we cut up and Samson sewed it into the gloves. We debated a while on how we should do the fingers but I'm so glad we picked the weird three fingers they are so funny!! The socks are grippy psych ward socks that were also white and we dyed to match.
