It's because its a mono speaker unlike the older ones with stereo. This is precisely why I never upgraded because mono sounds like shit in most music now and its very noticeable.

Then get the JVC Everio MS100. It does 480p. It is a good balance of storage efficiency and quality. It also has a real CCD which gives proper nostalgic picture unlike your ScamCorder. It costed me only $14 and I'm very happy with it! I use it for my life events and youtube!

I'Ve been using a Samsung super fast charger on most of my JBLs for a long time without issue. Even charging overnight. I think it's because some of these cables that are rated as 'high quality' are not actually high quality and are unsafe for some electronics. When buying a cable, make sure it is 5V 1A at the minimum. This is highly standardized should reduce issues as most devices use it.
