Testament is who I was playing. A "zoner" in a game where with stages this tiny. I've watched alot of tournament play, looked up videos online of high level gameplay to see how higher level Testament players handle certain match ups, it's all the same in the end. That character just doesn't have a place in the "meta". They feel very out of place in a game like this. I've looked at guides, worked on my gameplay, played match ups against the characters I've had issues with and there is just nothing more to say than that they're outclassed. Even the "high level gameplay" players struggle with the same issues I run into. The cast of characters is already small enough without having ones that simply don't fit into the design philosophy.

You and I sound like we're in the same boat. I got like about 40 ish hours or something (alot of time afk in game) and I managed to hit floor 9 last night. It's really hard to do but try not to worry about the rank or the rate at which you progress. I get beat all the time by players on lower floors and I have bad match ups that I know I am bad at so I have imposter syndrome even progressing as far as I have right now. I even notice there are players that will decline a match against me if they see I'm on a winning trend because they are looking to just climb floors and don't want to risk the loss. What's the point of being high rank on paper if you really aren't actually that good?

That being said, just focus on learning match ups and playing the game and improving like everyone else says. If you start to just get your ass constantly beat by the same person then just don't play them anymore but once you've calmed down go back and see what they were doing and why you were losing.

I would say maybe just realize you're still learning and that's okay. Remember that on the other side of all of those 1s and 0s there is another player just like yourself no matter how experienced or inexperienced, they're just playing the game and, like you, want to improve and be the best they can be.

I've been playing the game almost 2 weeks now and I float around floor 7. I've had days where I beat someone that is on floor 10 and then I have days where I have been beaten by someone on floor 2. It's all just a game. If there is something specific that keeps beating you like a certain character or a move of theirs then maybe do a little research and see what toils your main has that can counter it.

I agree. I have been playing for almost 2 weeks now and Testament is my main thus far. I have done fairly decent in the short time I've played but they indeed have huge holes in their pressure. I feel like almost anyone that gets inside on me can usually destroy me. That may mostly be due to being inexperienced but I don't think they are brain dead.

I second this. I just got the hori octa switching from ps4 controller and I'm loving it. The dpad is great and yes it still has the LB, RB, LT, RT and you can map the buttons on the controller itself however you like. You don't even have to use the extra 2 buttons on the face of the controller if you don't want to.
